My dad, rest his soul, was a Vietnam veteran who had a very hard time dealing with his PTSD and living with the nightmares!! I used to ask him questions and was always told by others to stop asking, but my dad always said to me, I was the baby of 7, that I kept him sane by asking those questions because it made him deal with his feelings!
I will always remember when he told me to never stop asking him questions and that he loved me more than life itself!!
Just laid my dad to rest last June!!
Even on his deathbed, he said, Missy, please ask me some questions!!
My stepmother, with who I didn't get along with always had a problem with our relationship and was spiteful to me, but my dad was my daddy and I would have done anything for him! In the end he only wanted me to talk to him like I used to!!
So I did! My daughter sat with him and just talked his ear off! He found comfort in having us there and said he'll be with my mom and brothers in no time!! ❤️

I too have a very special and strong affinity toward Vietnam veterans. I suffered a non- battle injury toward the end of my tour in Iraq. My medical evacuation aircraft landed in the middle of the night at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Even though it was in the middle of the night we were met by several Vietnam veterans who came to welcome us home and gave each of us a homemade knit blanket which I have to this day. What an honor for us to be met by such Honorable Men.
