Hey Tim, i believe credit should be given where credit is due. So, i thought i would take the time to write a short message and thank you for all the hard work you have put into this channel. Its quickly becoming one of my favourite channels to watch after a long day at work and it puts a smile on my face.

It looks professional and well put together. So yeah that about it. Hope you have a great day and keep up them competitions :D lol

Great review, as always. I appreciated being able to see Marshmallow in action. :-) I'm waiting not-so-patiently for AT&T to push out the update.

The 808 does occasionally lag. My G4 suffers as well. It isn't prominent but it is noticeable from time to time.

I purchased the 5X and I'm extremely happy with it. Does everything it has to perfectly for me, battery life is good, it's not the size of an encyclopedia and it takes great pictures. Couldn't ask for more.

Good review. I also have the Nexus 5X and don't have the noticeable lag you mentioned. The only lag that has happened more than once is the camera. I really think this phone is a solid upgrade to the Nexus 5 (2013) and recommend to all. Tim, will you by any chance be getting the Blu Studio Energy 2?

Would be cool if you did a follow up on this phone.

+Tim Schofield I thought that lag was just me. I'm sure the device it not yet fully optimised. I also notice that if you device is plugged into the charger the on screen keyboard is less responsive

is the 5x still lagging after the march update?

the lag on the 5x is due to its processor architecture, it's a hexa-core but it's split into two, a dual-core low power processor and a higher performance quad-core, the lag is a result from passing from the dual-core to the quad-core especially when waking up from a doze.

About the lag...I've actually used (but not owned) a bunch of phones/tablets, and interestingly, a lot of the higher end phones seem to have stutter in apps, and sometimes even in sleeping/waking. I think some lag within apps could be the android system webview, but who knows.

Anyways, this review (and literally all of your others) could not have been more honest and straightfoward. I loved it! Although i'm honestly thinking of buying a nexus 5/6 now that the 5x/6p has come out lol

The issues are probably due to the lower RAM. I doubt the 808 is the problem, since the G4, Moto X pure and LG V10 don't seem to have these issues despite using the 808.

How is this phone lagging? I'm using an HTC One m8 running a GPE rom and it's still butter smooth whenever I use it.

I have the 5X, and I have to return it tomorrow if I want my money back. But I really like this device, and I bought for updates, basically. When Android 6.1 comes out or Android N next year I want to have it instead of waiting months like I had to with Motorola. I have no idea if I'm going to return it or not. I need to decide if updates are worth $400 USD.

How do you do now on tap on a Samsung phone because the Samsung phone do not have the screen on buttons its has capacitive button when marshmallow comes to it

I have a 5X and I expected it to be snappier because of the 1080p screen coupled with the Snapdragon 808. Performance is only slightly better than my two year old Nexus 5 which is disappointing. I'm not sure it's a worthy successor to the Nexus 5.

Funny thing lag.. Nexus 5 was a pretty good experience overall. But, best android device so far for me has been the Oneplusone in terms of smoothness of the ui. 3 gb of ram probably helping. Moved to iPhone 5s for a change and I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it performs. Enjoying the smaller device too.. It's all swings and roundabouts 😀

Great review, I really like the looks of the 5X. But honestly, I'm waiting on the OnePlus X review to see how the LTE coverage is. I really wanna get it but I'm hesitant.

Hey Tim! great review! was wondering do the new Nexus devices support always on listening? since it uses their Android Sensor Hub I'd expect that to be standard, similar to the Moto X.

Oh btw! if you want to figure out where the lag is coming from, I recommend using "Cooltool" you can overlay a graphic on top of the status bar which can show the highest used task at that moment along with several variables if you wish.

What 6.0 version is it at? Oct 1st or Nov 1st? Just wondering. I have the 6p and loving it, but thinking of getting the 5x for the wife.
