Biggest difference is definitely in character direction. Older version has a sense of bravado to him. Newer version he is a lot more sinister and mellowed out.

I watched the 1973 movie many years ago as a kid and when I watched this scene in the series I admired the nod they were giving the original making it shot for shot identical as the adaption, and nature of the character is so completely different.

I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw this reconstructed. Also loved the exchange with the lady when Charles said “Why not the Jackal?” and she replied with “Why not?” Just like in the original film. Absolute Cinema😂🙌🏼

Edward Fox had such gravitas. Hard to replicate, impossible to immitate. Did a laudable effort. Redmayne is good in his own ways.
