An older rabbit can and will get messy bottoms. Our last bunny was sick and made messes of his bottom, we usually filled the very bottom of the bathtub with warm water. I would let his bottom soak for a short time, this softens the fur and loosens the dried in gunk. We usually let the bunny move around in the tub, but monitored him closely. After gently scrubbing, he was wrapped in a towel and the towel changed often. I recently had to trim out our 3 year old. During molting, he had tags of fur on his bottom. My wife held bun while I carefully trimmed the tags. I always try and keep my fingers between the scissors and the skin. I always check for distance between skin and scissors. I love your video, great job on caring for your older bun. It is hard dealing with an older bunny, but well worth it. They love us so unconditionally, it shouldn't be an issue doing this for them.

I know from experience how hard it is to see your best friend get sick. We went to the vet 6 times with our free-roaming pet rabbit, Max. He's almost six and he's my emotional support animal. The vet gave him antibiotics, and he's slowly getting better. I even wrote a song about it called 'My Best Friend is Sick' because music is an important way for me to express myself.

I just went through this with my beloved bun, George who became an elder bun way too soon! Time goes by so fast!!! I used bun-specific shampoo and wipes for him from Pet Smart and Chewy and did so much research and had vet consult to make sure I was doing the right thing by my fur baby.. Unfortunately, he went over the Rainbow Bridge on October 24, 2024.. I was with him all the way there.. my heart is shattered! Our fur babies are never, ever here long enough! I hope Lennon is here for years to come, although o know it’s pretty rough on you both right now.. I’ve followed you both for many years. My sister once washed my rabbit when she had cancer. She got diarrhoea, very badly. She got fixed up at the vets 3 times before she died. When I washedmy rabbit, i used to lay next to her by the fire place till she dried out. Her fur smelt so lovely. I remember how fluffy and soft she was and how her whiskers used to tickle my hands and face when she licked me. I loved her twitchy little nose, she wassuch a clean rabbit before she got cancer. I loved her!!!!
