How to Lock Mirrors ║ Protect from Unwanted Spirit Activity

Today I'm, going over a few methods for locking a mirror. A mirror, being a liminal space, is particularly attractive to spirits and they can use mirrors to enter and exit your home. Whilst this can be useful for some, not everyone would like unknown spirits to enter their space, so they may want to lock a mirror. To lock the mirror is to stop it from acting as a portal or entryway, nothing can come and go. This isn't going to be suitable for everyone and some people prefer unlocked mirrors, but it is good to learn how to do so just in case you need to.

These are only a few of the many techniques for locking a mirror, each practitioner will have their own style, if you lock mirrors a different way, let us know in the comment section.

I used water to emergency lock mirror in hotel apartment last holidays. It was old, wierd mirror with something watching from it. I used very simple sigil and it worked for all three days. But if I have it, I'll use alcohol based herbal extract to draw sigils on glass - when it dries it becomes invisible :)

I was taught to use a wet finger and draw a symbol of protection on the mirror and command the mirror to close in the name of whatever deity you like. I was also taught a universal protection symbol would be the Cho Ku Rei symbol from Reiki because the symbol can be used by anyone and it will always work.

Topic near and dear to my heart! Since my very active feng shui days, I've feared mirrors--they're just holy hell. When I'm in a hotel (I don't like hotel rooms) I cover the mirrors with sheets, towels, blankets or anything. I really hate mirrored closet doors. Ugh. At home I only have 2 bathroom mirrors above sinks, but I will now lock them a la Hearth.

The technique of using the opposite side is a feng shui basic--sometimes prescribed for offices in which your "neighbor" annoys the crap out of you, is dishonest, etc. You use a small mirror and attach it to the wall with the mirror surface facing the other office, then hang a picture or poster, perhaps a peg board to cover it up. Voila. (It's like saying "Stay the hell out of my life!)

I wish I had this concise video years ago when I decided to put three large mirrors in my bedroom. Two of them face each other and it’s always made me uneasy. I opted for putting sigils on tape and sticking the tape to the back of the mirror. When it comes time to cleanse my room I can remove the tape sigil and put a new one on the back. I do the same for my front door. It’s discreet and no one see it.

Thank you so much for this. I never see anyone giving advice about mirrors so thank you. Before I was a Wiccan I had a TV that my Grandad used to own. My grandad loved me and I him but there was something not right with that TV. It was OK when it was switched on but when it was off I could feel eyes watching me through the screen. With watching this video it's just made me think about this experience. This was before any of my witchcraft so I had no idea at the time so as soon as I could afford another TV I got one. Now years later I'm a Wiccan Witch and my favourite thing to do is Scrying. I don't like using mirrors as they are way too deep if that makes sense. I prefer water or my Crystal. It's thanks to my Scrying that saw an amazing ouroborrus moving clockwise that was the last sign to get the message through to start working with Hekate. Had a strange dream about mirrors and Tv’s as gates and that evil spirits were attacking me. Strangely, I’ve not been one to dabble in dark arts but have grown curious as things I can’t explain have started happening.

In the dream I met a woman and felt safe in her house as her tv’s and mirrors were locked. Long story short I decided to do some research on the topic and was drawn here. Thanks for the info, it was very enlightening.

Such good tips and suggestions! As a child I grew up in a home where the main hallway of the home had a mirror facing the entrance, a mirror facing down the hall, then the bathroom mirror facing towards that hallway, and then there was a mirror in my bedroom that shared the wall of that hallway (basically, a boxed hall of mirrors). It definitely made for very strong liminal space! Luckily my mother figured it out and locked all of the mirrors in that area.

I’m so grateful for this video. I have a mirror that came from an unhappy household and has an icky feel to it. I’m hoping that locking it stops that, as it is part of my antique bedroom set from my great grandparents. The rest of the set feels fine, it’s just the mirror that feels off.

I keep a stash of sticky notes with sigil on it, and use it as energy sticker when I arrive a new place(like hotels or holiday stay with relatives), when it’s time to leave I simply collect and count the sticky notes.
I kept it at the amount of magic number of mine, just to make it extra magical.

I've found a very old mirror just abandoned. I've had it for a while now. I've had no issues, but then again, I'm well protected.

Very similar to my usual method. I can't remember when I created my mirror locking sigil it was so many years ago. Ive used different things to draw with including moon water, oil, and invisible ink.

Excellent video, as always! I have searched for videos on this and there aren't many available. I have had a.very scary experience with something that came through and a friend had something similar. Since at the time I knew nothing about locking mirrors...wasn't a practitioner then...I asked Archangel Michael to protect the space and keep anything from coming through. Also thoroughly saged the entire apartment.
