Plot:
Jim Kirk's experience with Star Fleet is starting to look up. He has a beautiful ship and an even greater crew, his rocky friendship with Spock has finally smoothed over, and now his new family aboard the Enterprise can journey across space together. Of course, a federation ship can never have a calm moment, can it? A new threat appears on the horizon and it's up to the Enterprise crew to take it down. However, Kirk knows the weight of the decisions he will have to make, how attack (or lack of) will affect his family and friends. And now there's Spock and the realization that the Vulcan means more to Kirk than simply a second-in-command and friend. Jim must meet his mortality face-to-face and embrace what it means to be his father's son and the Enterprise's captain...

James T. Kirk is more like his father than he admits, but he can't do this alone. Captain's duty is a lonely one, but the friends he's got going make it a burden that going to be halved. By being friends with Spock, Kirk has a new understanding of the universe and his life. Spock is a man of two worlds, yet neither of them makes any logical sense to him at all. Kirk to him never made any logical sense at all, but yet he wanted still be his friend. Kirk taught him one thing you can't do on you're own, you're friends are the people who keep you real.
