As soon as he said "golf ball", I immediately started grinning because I knew EXACTLY which myth he was gonna talk about. I miss that show so much, it was so friggin cool

As a lead engineer at Ford I can verify that we attempted this with the 2017 Ford edge crossover at our plant in Indiana, and I was present during the process, if I remember correctly there was an increase to mpg up to 1p percent at 35 mph and under however over 35 we began to see a hard curve of drag that gradually decreased the mpg the faster it went seeing up to a 20 percent drop in fuel economy.

I actually really appreciate one of the auto makers trying this, to me, it shows that they’re actually open to suggestions and seek improvements for the consumer

14% is crazy impressive considering how much weight they probably added in clay and the rougher surface.

Fun fact, Subaru uses the golf ball style texture on certain aero parts, including some under body parts to improve efficiency.

That was one of my favorite episodes! I particularly liked the one with the tailgate on the pick up truck, getting better gas mileage while it’s up and not layed down like so many people do thinking the opposite!

I don't remember where i saw this, but apparently, another car manufacturer was experimenting with dynamic dimples. Where it would flatten or create a bigger dimple based on your speed. If i remember correctly, their reasoning was that at slower speeds the dimples negativity affected efficiency but at high speeds, it improoved.

I love that Mythbusters taught people about the scientific process. I took it for granted having learned it in school, but as an adult I'm running into a truly spine-chilling amount of working adults who can't seem to tell scientific process from fabricated clickbait.

I grew up watching Adam, Jaime, and the gang busting myths and just making science incredibly fun. I will always treasure the time i spent layin on the couch with my dad enjoying their show. Thank you Adam(also my name!) for all the fascination you gave me and the bonding time you gave my dad and I.

That would be physically impossible, considering the weight put on the car with the clay

Bugatti actually put dimples on their Bolide roof that automatically adjust to change airflow and efficiencies.
