I used to work in a Naval Shipyard and witnessed many test explosions as in the opening of this video. What was strange is that the test barge would attract hundreds of sea gulls, sitting on it during the countdown. When the count got down to about 10 seconds, all the seagulls would take off and fly away from the barge. After the massive explosion, the seagulls would return and harvest the fish killed by the explosion. The question is, how did the sea gulls know to take off just before the explosion?

Just insanely expensive from build, to maintainance over life, and manning it with 5000 crew basically. The Royal Navy actually got something right for once, just chiefly due to the automation it can have on the QE class, meaning less than a quarter of a Ford class compliment.

Having said that, it's one beautiful boat.
