For question A, can anyone explain how did she get 43.194 for the right tail I still don’t understand.

Thank you so much for explaining this. My statistics teacher is horrible, and I always get confused when to divide alpha by 2 or not. The calculator trick was a new and helpful bit of information for me, so thanks for that too.

@Keisan. The invnorm function calculates critical values on the correct side of the distribution when you enter invnorm(area to the left, mean, standard deviation). If the test is a right tail test, the alpha is the area to the right of the critical value you are looking for. To get ready to use the invnorm function you need to find the correct area to the left if you know the area to the right. So in the example the area to the right was 0.01 giving area to the left 1-0.01=0.99. Then invnorm(0.99, 0, 1)=2.33

Last one we can calculate using z statistic as sample size > 30

In the last one the probability is .01 so the critical value is 2.457 is correct. I just didn't write a leading 0 before the decimal point.

Last one there is a mistake; looking at a student's t distribution for 30=degrees of freedom and probability=0.1 the critical value=1.310. The critical value 2.457 is obtained from 30=degrees of freedom and probability=0.01

Question @10:46 in this video if the invnorm function is meant to calculate critical values to the left of the distribution then why in (d) is the answer 2.33? If we're trying to find the critical value for the value to the right of the distribution, which in this situation is the .01 area then shouldn't the critical value be the inverse of 2.33 (which i am not sure what that would be) thank you though for this video
