It’s crazy too how much simple things like rounded edges, and the heft something feels like in your hand affect value while not affecting it’s outcome.

Carrots taste better to kids when told they're from McDonald's.

"No sane seller would scam me that much. I'll play the game in good faith and think that it should be higher quality if they're daring to price it that high."

I wonder if part of the reason why people think that something is nicer is because it costs more is because they actually pay attention to it more. If know that if I buy a bottle of "plonk" I'm just going to glug it down like a fish. But if I get something more expensive, I savour it, thus paying more attention to its qualities. So in the experiments, it's not that people are deluded, it's just that when they know something is more expensive, they put more effort into appreciating it.

TLDR Version: savour everything, no matter how cheap!

It always baffles me how, apparently, these, marketing techniques work as they don't work on me.

If i buy wine at a resteraunts, the criteria is the variety I feel like and the cheapest bottle available. Ill pay as little for a 200-300% mark up as I can.

Bonne Maman (French preserves) are imported and have real fruits in those jars, that’s why they’re more expensive and taste better.

I've always argued that all whiskey tastes like gasoline, regardless of price.

I used to work in bars. Few expensive wines are worth the cost. Aussie wines are good value.
