DON'T STACK THIS SILVER OR GOLD! Bullion that is simply NOT WORTH THE 'GRADE'

In this video I’m going to discuss certified--or graded--bullion coins. As a stacker, I strongly feel one should AVOID buying graded gold and silver. I’ll also tell you when "grades" really DO matter. Any make sure to watch to the end to see me cut out one of slabbed coins. The Sheldon coin grading scale, created in 1949 and then improved in the 70s went a LONG WAY in helping numismatists determine the quality of coins--from “worn” all the way to “perfect". People buy higher-premium graded silver and gold coins for a lot of reasons, and I discuss some of them while we look at my three graded items--an "ultra cameo" 1982-S George Washington commemorative half dollar, graded by NGC as a PF69, an MS69 "First Strike" gold buffalo that I bought from Tim last year, and an MS70 George Patton collector coin as a total splurge! Bottom line? When stacking bullion, “grades” don't matter! However, before I cut the gold buffalo out of its "plastic prison", I let you in on when super-high grades DO matter! Gold found in a gold mine! Protect yourself from out-of-control governments, evil central banks, and the failing US dollar's grip as the world's reserve currency. Make sure you build a stack of silver rounds, silver bars, silver coins, and gold coins as essential barter and wealth preservation!

I hit my 40 oz of silver today !! Even thought it’s not all in one type, 21 ounces in buffalos and the rest in random silver rounds and coins. Not bad considering i started this January and I took a month break from buying.

On the gold coin it’s an MS/Mat due to the fact that it’s not a gloss/PF the mint sells both mint and uncirculated.

At the very least, it's been authenticated as real

I only have 2 collectibles, one batman coin my mom got me many years ago (which I recently found out was silver) and a Dr who coin my wife got me for Christmas.

That MS 69 Buffalo came from Tucson, AZ btw. I personally drove it here and unfortunately had to sell it to Tim.

PF = Proof. Specially prepared dies (polished). The planchettes (coins) are typically struck twice to bring up all the details on the dies. The planchettes are also typically polished or at least carefully rolled and cut prior to striking. MS = Mint State. Planchettes are mass produced and single struck on regular production dies. MS coins typically have a frosty appearance while proof have a mirrored appearance.

I quite like the different toning on the numismatic coins! When I come to the USA 🇺🇸 next year, I’m going to buy as much as I can bring bank to Australia 🇦🇺

Rely on person to person trade easy as scavenging for items that are valuable, practical, of quality and wanted and do the trade up challenge with it also the gov cant establish its influence on trade and doesnt need electricity etc to survive the end of the world

Certified examples can often be bought for the same price as an uncertified example. Personally I think certified coins are easier to sell when the time comes.

My graded coins are for fun and my non graded ones are for stacking.

luckily it's gold. Blowing into the capsule then encasing a silver coin is a big no-no!

Numismatics and stacking weight are 2 different things. I personally choose both. Also, history of type coins has increased in value way more than spot values. Like more, depending on what type of coins. He should've said, don't stack what you aren't educated on.

So much cooler than a savings account. My stack looks and feels awesome and even after paying premiums and only holding metals 2 years or so, it's already so much better than a cash account.

I’m one of the ones that buys those once or twice a year just because I think they are pretty and I like having them. They’re on annual subscription from the U.S. Mint. Are they overpriced? Heck yeah they are. I still like them.
But yeah I agree no one should stack them like boring bullion

As a newbie, I bought only slabbed coins in the early days. Then I realised the folly of my ways. However, do still buy the occasional numismatic coloured coin because they do look exceptional.

Won't buy the graded stuff.
But when I started stacking, I said no gold and only the best deals on $ilver. Wellll bought a little gold and fell in love with all fancy coins and rounds. So who knows ....

I've basically figured out that graded bullion, unless it's for "rare" dates, is virtually useless. I walked an MS70 $50 American Gold Eagle around an ANA coin show and was basically offered a tad above spot and not much over raw. Grade silver Eagles are even worse and almost all treated as raw essentially.

If you can get a slabbed coin for regular price, then should leave it in the slab because it authenticates it better. If I’ve got 2 guys offering me a gold buffalo for half of a cow, and one is slabbed, I’m taking that one. But agree to not pay extra as you did with Tim.

I think a coin has to be at least 3yr old before able to get a 70 to make sure it doesn't milk spot. Just my opinion.
