Part of my trailer project - breathing some new life into older, forgotten or overlooked films.
Mainly to spread awareness of these great films and hopefully inspire more people to seek them out.

Director - Andrei Tarkovsky

Synopsis - A psychologist is sent to a station orbiting a distant planet in order to discover what has caused the crew to go insane.

If there are any long time fans of the DM Edit channel, you may remember that one of my earlier trailers was for Solaris. It had over 56,000 views at the time but I decided to remove it along with some other earlier works. Even though I still think that trailer is "cool" I don't think it was a great representation of the film, and such a behemoth of sci-fi deserved better.

I also had no way of editing with subtitles at the time, so I came up with a clever way around it, using dialogue samples from the remake with the footage from the original. Some people loved it, some hated it... Anyway I had always felt like I needed to take another shot at it, so hopefully you dig the result --DM

Thank you for covering Solaris -- I can't decide whether my favorite Tarkovsky is this 1972 sci-fi masterpiece or Andrei Rublev. Both are brilliant. But Solaris remains fascinating in its own right, and is also worth watching alongside other, similarly themed tragedies about loss and memory: Hitchcock's Vertigo and arguably, more recently, Inception...
