AI is not going to replace lawyers. AI is going to replace lawyers who cannot effectively use AI. ChatGPT is a powerful tool, but it can be superficial unless you develop the correct prompt sequences to get the best answers. Think of prompt engineering as learning how to speak to your AI-enabled device. We will continue to level you up so that you can increase your abilities as a lawyer or other professional by 10x. The 'Step by Step' Prompt used in this video:

"I want you to pretend you are an attorney representing Ron Myclient and a company called Myclient CO. You are negotiating the termination of services with Adverse Company, Corp's attorney. His name is Mike Adverse Counsel. I will provide you with a draft response to the latest email received by Mike. Before proceeding, please ask me to upload Mike’s latest email for context. After that, ask me to upload a draft response. I then want you to provide a revised response that stresses that this is a final offer, improves the tone to be courteous and professional, and expresses confidence in our legal position. Do you understand these instructions?"

The step-by-step prompt sequence and the use of whisper technology are truly revolutionary.

I see a huge amount of potential in your channel with practical demonstrations of implementing tasks with AI. It's like school just got out competed and reinvented all at the same time, while doing litigation..

You are a master communicator. Your teaching style is clear and concise, and you always get to the point. You have a knack for identifying the essential elements of any topic. You should write a book about your communication skills. It would be a huge success.

well executed video. 11 months further down the line this concept still holds up. the onyl gigantic flaw in all of this is GPT4's measly 4096 token window. recently gemini 1.5 came out with a whooping 1M token window. the context it can grasp is astonishing.

How to avoid hallucinations? Recently a lawyer was busted for citing cases that didn't exist, blaming ChatGPT.

Not a lawyer, and I still subbed. (web dev by trade.) I appreciate your concise and practical training style. Btw, how'd you render those nifty self-portraits? Presumably by uploading a photo of yourself to midjourney / stable diffusion? I'm very new to all this; and you're spot on: adapt or die. Thanks again.

Edit: Another question, I'm not seeing the whisper speech-to-text modal, nor the gpt-4 model, in my playground, even after giving them my payment info in playground, as well as upgrading to "plus" in chat. Perhaps these functionalities will not be made available until after my first paid invoice? Mille grazie!

Overall Score: 6.2/10
Clarity (6/10): The prompt provides a clear scenario, but the multiple steps and details make it a bit cumbersome to follow. The user's intentions are clear, but the flow could be streamlined.
Brevity (5/10): The prompt is lengthy. While it's essential to provide all necessary details, some information could be condensed or rephrased for brevity.
Coherence (7/10): The prompt is coherent in that it follows a logical sequence of events. However, the multiple steps and the way they're presented can be a bit overwhelming.
Precision (7/10): The prompt is precise in its details, mentioning specific names and actions. However, the list format at the end (with a missing "b") disrupts the flow.
Language (6/10): The language is straightforward, but there's room for improvement in terms of conciseness and fluidity.

Refined Prompt:
"Assume the role of an attorney for Ron Myclient and Myclient CO. You're in talks with Mike Adverse Counsel, attorney for Adverse Company, Corp, about terminating services. First, request Mike's recent email for context. Then, ask for my draft response. Revise my draft to emphasize: (a) it's our final offer, (b) maintain a professional tone, and (c) convey confidence in our legal stance. Understood?"

Have you looked at the privacy policy for whisper? If it is still in research mode and training the model, I am curious as to whether it is problematic for attorneys to use on client matters without violating ethics rules.

Any tips on putting together long threads of information? Chet will usually say the prompt is too long. Any help would be appreciated!

One caveat to the guidance about speech-to-text - it assumes you're in an environment where you can do that. If you're in a public place, or a noisy place, speech-to-text may not be practical. I've heard way too many people having speaker phone conversations or doing speech-to-text in coffee shops or at crowded airport gates and there are serious privacy (not to mention etiquette) concerns with that.

So yes, in a private location speech-to-text is amazing. But typing is still preferable if you're in an environment where others may overhear your speech.

Questions:
1) what version of this ChatGPT version (free or subscribe) ?
2) in this video, you provided an email as context, can this prompt work with documents of 50 pages?
Thanks a head for your help ❤

Hey man your video is great, youve excelled at the hard part. Maybe work on the easy part now, tey add some colour to the video. With your black on white text or grey vignette it looked quite grey overall. Just trying to help a bro out.

As Chatgpt becomes multimodal I think prompt engineering will be less important, and/or will change (esp as people interact with it by voice)
