Показать описание
Nafplion
One of the most beautiful towns in the area of Argolis (in eastern Peloponnese) as well as one of the most romantic cities all over Greece, Nafplio was the first capital of the newly born Greek state between 1823 and 1834.
Nafplio is located, just 140 klm NW of Athens, in Peloponnese, an ideal one-day getaway. The beautiful old city has a wealth of narrow alleyways and streets, steep stairs, taverns, lively bars, clubs and cafés, and enough sights to fill a week. But the best is perhaps just being in this wonderful city. Watch the sun going down behind the mountains, colouring the bay, relax in the central square, or take a walk at the lovely seafront promenade.
If you care about places wealth seeing, there is plenty of them indeed, visit :
- The castle of "Bourtzi", the Venetian small fortress standing on the rocky islet.
- The "Palamidi Castle", either climbing all of its 999 steps(!) or driving around by car.
- The "Akronafplia", the historic rock at the foot of Palamidi hill, Inhabited since prehistoric times, also known as “Its Kale”. It was there that the ancient acropolis was situated, fortified with polygonic Cyclopean walls.
Or take a short road tour to
- Nea Kios, 7klm N.
- Ancient Tiryns 7klm W.
- Tolon 12km S,
- Ancient theatre of Epidaurus 27klm E, or
- Ancient Mycenae 22klm S.
