My brain can't grasp how backgrounds work
They're just black magic to me

Blue : draws lighting and highly detailed background

Me: still drawing floating heads

Tip for background: STAY ZOOMED OUT. If you zoom into the drawing constantly you’ll get fixated on one or two things and never complete the piece as quickly as you wish.

I love these videos where artists share their *studies*, not their *process*

Such a huge difference when it comes to learning

The lineart portion was really nice! I want to make a comic one day, and I can’t sketch background very well. Seeing someone place the larger shapes down and drawing the lines over makes me think I can do it with enough practice👍🏽

the way that you talk about art makes me want to draw so much. usually I feel really insecure about my art when I watch speedpaints or studies like this but the way that you speak and draw is so comforting and beautiful and it makes me want to improve.

Another important tip would be establishing the vanishing point/horizon line! Very very important step for creating backgrounds of any kind. It lays down the base which helps with perspective and depth

This video alone helped me a lot on slowly destroying my toxic trait in arts which is being a perfectionist. Your guide/tips/study showed me that everything doesn't need very intricate details but starting on large chunks so you could slowly break it down into little details (but not really super detailed and still visually pleasing). Thank you for all of your guides/tips/studies, it really helps a bunch of beginner artists on where to start learning. Much love from a viewer <3 .

I had never considered drawing backgrounds using photos to help me before now! I made a pinterest board immediately after watching for five minutes. Thank you, this is very helpful

Thanks for the videos! When I started with digital drawings, I didn't really know how to pick colors, but now with your videos I've started playing with colors, and painting is so much fun, I learn a lot from your videos, and I'm so happy that you're going to make a video about hands, I have no idea how to draw it.

This video is helpful! Not everyone shows how they draw interior of houses or buildings (mostly it would be like: how to draw a tree and end up leaving the bg blank when you can't find what you're looking for).
The drawing study was great and now I understand how not to waste my time and worry how to draw every book on a shelf lol

This is all wrong!
Here’s how you actually get good at backgrounds ;D

1. Independently draw a background
2. Realize it sucks and get sad
3. Sell your soul to the devilishly handsome man around the corner.
4. Now you’re good!

(I’m just kidding I’m listing hand and foot to this video.)
