suggestion: chop your fruit/vegetables into smaller pieces before adding. A bit of potting mix & some straw or dry cuttings and you will have usable compost in 6-8 weeks. 😉

I have an identical tumbler. When people ask, I tell them it's for bingo, then I tell them what it's really used for, making black gold!

Just FYI, you want to crush up your egg shells as much as possible. And, as other people have said, chop up everything as much as possible before putting it in as just help speed everything

You have the same tumbler. Adding egg shells is very good indeed. We talk about NPK ratios in gardening bu t we rarely talk about micro nutrients and we really should! Egg shells are pure calcium. I am sure you have heard of calmag? It is very underrated how much most plants need calcium! The cell wall of plants needs calcium just as much as we need calcium for our teeth and bones so adding egg shells is a no brainier tbh.

Thanks for the vid. So I DID NOT chop anything up before putting it in there and right now it’s just a stinky gooey mess :D it’s been 2 months will probably have to wait 2 more!

Next time I’ll try to chop it up for better results.

I use blender, add water to chop up fruit and veggie waste, and just pour directly into the soil in the planter, they just decompose and had great nutritious soil

Thank you for this wonderful video. Short and sweet.
I bought my first bin last week and I’m super excited to use it. It’s already started filling. Do I add worms to it?

I have the same tumbler, works well but wish it had a handle to spin it. I also cut up everything and crush egg shells, compost in 6 weeks. I thing it works well but I am going to try a pile on the ground so the worms can help me out.

Is it big enough for all the compost you go through? Will it produce all the additive you need for your garden soil?

So do you need a have a period of time where you don't add anything to it just so it can not fall behind on doing its composting? Or can you.continually add to it & just.remove.composted material as you go along?

Thank you for this video. I'm a little confused - how do the scraps move to compost pile on the right? When it is on the right is it fully composted? You mentioned 2-3 months, but do you mean 2-3 months from when the scraps are added? Or when they are moved to the right? I just bought one and am hoping I will have compost for this gardening season.

I’m so excited. I just bought one of these n I’ve had it going for a couple weeks now. I’m going to start chopping everything up before I put it in. I’ve added soil from my garden n noticed there’s worms in it.
Does anyone know if they will survive in the tumbling process?

We were given a spinning composter, but with no instructions, so we've been winging it. I actually had no idea about switching the door to let the full side sit, but duh, now the little clock picture makes sense! I also added water sporadically through the summer, and sometimes add snow in the winter - not sure if that's the right thing to do or not - how often do you add water to yours?
