Thank you. The only way that bigotry should be debated is in discussions of how best to fight against it

I agree completely, the kind of people who debate about whether a certain group should exist aren't the type to be open minded and objective. They literally start with the assumption you are less of a person. When they make "arguments" about trans existence they aren't bringing up valid points that make us question if they are a group of people that shouldn't be taken seriously, more often than not its propaganda like Matt Walsh's "What is a women" meant to shame and hate on anyone who supports that community. I watched that film, and I don't think any rational human being cannot see through this obvious lie.

I get so tired of hearing we need to debate people with hurtful and dangerous political views.

Some views don’t deserve such platforms and should never be given a platform. Period!

I love Michael and rest of the team at wise Crack. apart from making videos that have made me take a look at my own ideas, but also new perspectives, I love that there is no need or want to debate the issues you mentioned. much from me to Everyone at Wisecrack for being real and not capitulating to gather more followers or views.

I don’t think that a reasonable person would argue for transphobia. I think that they argue that it doesn’t exist or that liberals and progressives are taking things too far. If you wanna describe that as transphobia that’s fine. But the problem is is that now you can’t debate the truth of the matter if trans people exist how they exist and what we do for them and what we can’t do for them, because if you just say that you won’t debate hateful ideas, that’s OK but the problem is that you won’t debate anything then because they could all fall under hateful ideas.

In 2023, this is the exact stance to have. No reason to debate, move on.

Thank you for this. Listening to people talk about whether we deserve rights or to be treated like a person simply because we 🏳️‍⚧️ exist is so draining and tiresome. Have a great day Michael. And no I will not be debating anyone on this in the comments.

The thing is, you can't be open-minded AND be curious about racism, transphobia, etc. Because the fundamental essence of ideologies like racism, transphobia, and so on is a lack of curiosity. They are ideologies of closed-mindedness, groupthink, conformity, and a patent rejection of empirical evidence.

We don’t have values here.

Anyway here are some value statements.

I say this as someone who believes in tolerance and respect towards all people, let me play devil's advocate to help our side make better arguments: it's not necessarily that many otherwise good people don't agree that racism and other forms of intolerance are bad, it's that they don't always agree on what constitutes them.

This is exactly why even the most racist right wing views maintain a platform. We say it's not worth arguing with, and their audience never hears a critique of the hosts views. An echo chamber programming hate.

What is the curiosity to find in rejecting ANYONE?

I don’t entirely agree with this, to be clear I am NOT open to people strongly debating from a position that Trans people are inherently wrong or evil, anyone who tries cut someone from society like that is monstrous. I do, however, find it so important to actually speak to transphobes and make them identify what it is they’re uncomfortable with. Yes a lot of them, probably most unfortunately, are just hateful and do not even have an excuse or a logic behind their hate, but I have managed to turn people around on this issue including family members. I 100% support that wisecrack shouldn’t platform people like that in the first place but if you’re an ally I think it’s important to get into the hard talks. God knows I don’t want my trans friends interacting with someone who could potentially be truly hateful, but if I cross a guy (usually dudes -_-) dropping borderline transphobia I will sit down with him and talk. It won’t work most of the time but if we only ever discuss the issue with allies how do we actually make meaningful progress on the larger perception of trans and gender-queer people.

Genuinely I don’t know if that’s a good idea or policy to hold so curious to hear how others judge it. It’s just that the thought that we can’t turn people away from transphobia and bigotry in general through debate and discussion saddens and scares me…
