I'm no expert, but considering the game has an update speed, I don't think that pearls move in continuous lines, but probably """teleport""" between positions each game tick, meaning actually lining up that shot doesn't mean it needed to be a line that passed [ through ] the softlock position on the block, but it needed to land [ exactly ] at that tiny position on that block to happen to begin with, otherwise it would simply pass behind or in front of it and then work as normal, probably making the entire thing even more stupid unlucky.

I'd hazard a guess that most combinations of angles and player positions for pearl throws don't even have valid positions where such a softlock is even possible due to where the pearls end up every tick along their paths.

I don't think "this bug has never naturally happened to anyone before" is true - Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time, I'm pretty sure it has happened dozens of times worldwide.
