BENZIDINE TEST FOR BLOOD: PRACTICAL

▪︎One of the most sensitive test (Colour test) used for the detection of suspected blood stains at the scene or in the laboratory.
▪︎Used in Forensic to complete first objective of primary examination of blood stain i.e. "Whether the suspected stain is blood or not?"
▪︎Sensitivity ~5ppm means 5,00,000 times diluted blood sample can also be detected using this test.
▪︎Negative results surely confirm the absence of blood.
▪︎It is Carcinogenic reagent therefore its derivative (tetramethylbenzidine) or some alternative reagents like phenolphthalein test, leucomalachite green test, lumenol test etc. adviced or commonly performed while examining the evidences.
