5 Ways To Finish Your Forehand - Advanced Tennis Forehand Technique

There are five main forehand techniques you can use to finish your swing.
In this lesson, Coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will show you how to use all five forehand finishes and when to use each one.

Forehand Finish One:
Over the shoulder. This is the standard way to finish your forehand in tennis, and most commonly taught to beginners.

This is a great way to learn the low to high swing and how to sync your hands as you can practice catching the racket with your non hitting hand at the end.

Forehand Finish Two:
Across the chest finish. This is where you pull the racket across your body and finish with your elbow across the chest.

This is a great finish to use on higher balls as you can be very aggressive with the racket head speed and still generate the topspin by coming over the ball quickly.

Forehand Finish Three:
The down by your hip finish. This will be used more often by players who use the western forehand grip.

However, even if you use an eastern or semi-western forehand grip, you can still use this finish when going for a short angle, hitting into a net players feet or using the lob.

Forehand Finish Four:
Above the head finish. This is the follow through that Rafa Nadal has made so famous over the last 20 years, his infamous buggy whip style shot.

This is a great finish to have when you hit the ball late, or you want to lift the ball with aggressive topspin.

Forehand Finish Five:
The slap finish. This is a very unknown forehand technique, that has only been used by Andre Agassi.

Most players who are watching this lesson, would struggle greatly to control the shot using this finish.

However, more advanced players may test it and see it does wonders to their game.

Allow the wrist to snap through the contact point, and stay on the ball with the racket for as long as possible.

Great Video again Simon!!! Thank you for all the great content.
Maybe one day you can make a video for other coaches how to get most out of group training. Or maybe you can produce a course about that topic?
Greetings from Germany 🙋‍♂️

Technique 1&2: Best for control and move your opponent until he makes errors.
Technique 3: best for hitting extreme angle shots when balls bounce near the service box.
Technique 4: best for injury your shoulder unless you’re build like Nadal.
Technique 5: best for passing shot when your opponent running up to the net and surprise him.

I think I've just used once in my life the Nadal whip one, it just came intuitively (hey Nick!😁). There is a video where Nole says which one he prefers for his son, who was a big Rafa fan!

Great instructional video, I’m relatively new to tennis and I struggle trying to hit a forehand with a ball that is below my hitting zone and one which is above it, I know some of it is poor footwork on my part but any tips would be great 👍

Amazing content, congrats and thank you! 👏

I'm looking for a new video of you talking about volley, I would appreciate it if you give us new tips on that.

Also, the audio of your videos has been improved lately, I think that this court has a better acoustic.

Your videos show that you have a very deep knowledge on everything that has to do with tennis. I am 62 years old, I have been studying and playing tennis for the last 40 or so years. You are always accurate and exhaustive. Your explanation here shows exactly that.
The neutral stance seems to come more natural to me, and maybe is that I am using a 93 inch racket ( volkl power bridge ten mid ) and need that body weight transfer to drive the ball deep.
Many thanks for another informative video.

Which finish would you recommend me of this ones to use most of the times?¿ knowing that my ball dosen't penetrate and goes high and then bounce with some top spin but either not heavy and mostly finishing around the shoulder level

Not to forget""Bend your knees" Or lower your body just before hitting the ball.

For me it depends on what height the ball approaches me. I am a short guy.
