For everyone saying “this isn’t Lethwei” it likely is.
We have to remember that sports were a way to pass the time for a lot of common people.
It’s like early boxing. You’ll see guys flailing their arms around with little skill. And that’s because those people aren’t “boxers” they’re blacksmiths, coal miners, railroad workers, a bunch of blue collar workers blowing off steam on their days off. So even though they looked bad, it was still boxing, they just weren’t professional boxers.
And it’s the same with this video. It’s Lethwei, they’re just not skilled Lethwei fighters.

This is not Lethwei. This is just a street fight. Born in Mandalay and raised in Yangon.

"Lethwei" means boxing in their language. So yes it is boxing. In every country, fights are like this. In the old days, when gloves was not a thing, most the fights are outside. Boxing in general was a poor man sport for the lower class.

Why are you expecting Lethwei fights from the Burmese? By the time the British colonized them, the martial arts been lost because (guns vs machetes) lol. If you wanted to see real Lethwei fighters back then, you gotta go up the mountains where the other ethnic groups are still preserving the style, especially the Karen. Or go to west Thailand if it’s even called Thailand yet idk. Ppl gotta know that the country wasn’t called Thailand back then and Muay Thai is not called Muay Thai till Siam changed it’s name to Thailand.
Lethwei means Burmese boxing and Muay Thai means Thai boxing. Both lost the original name of the Martial arts after the kingdom broke apart.

This is Burmese boxing, there is no technique, only clear fist girls. Different from Muay Thai Muay Thai techniques are better
