I like how pitchers probably train to throw as hard and as accurate as possible so the batters train to hit fast balls. Then nobody expects you to throw like an elementary school kid so they can't get the timing/movements right.

This makes sense; hitters are already tuned to hit high pitches that are in the 90's, so pitching in the 80's is just making it easy. By contrast, throwing that super-slow stuff unbalances hitters who just can't adjust over just a few pitches.

In short: you're probably better off throwing 55 then 85.

I used to do the same thing playing tennis growing up. Would be in a rally belting the ball then suddenly hit a half-paced shot and my opponent’s timing would get thrown off and they’d shank the shit out of it. Sport hacks.
