What is happening inside Chinese facilities that Beijing calls vocational education and training centers? Reports from those who were confined in these detention camps and drone footage help paint a picture of life behind those walls. Survivors say Uyghurs and other religious and ethnic minorities in China are being persecuted for their religion. For VOA, Sanjar Khamidov has more from survivors who fled to the U.S. Anna Rice narrates the story.

To take away someone’s ability to have children is so unspeakably evil. I don’t even want children of my own, but to be stripped of that choice is cruelty beyond measure.

Genocide is a serious matter, not telltale or rumormonger. The discussion in this clip is completely divorced from facts. No explanation is given to the facts and observable trends as follows:

1. Since the modern China era in the 1940s, the Uyghur population has grown from under 3 million to currently 12.8 million. In addition, the life expectancy of Uyghurs has increased from 30 to 72 years during the same period. Real growth in population is inconsistent with the notion of genocide.

2. Xinjiang’s economy has kept on growing - @ 7.2 % annual rate between 2014 & 2019; its GDP was valued at 1.36 trillion RMB in 2019 and grew 3.4% to 1.38 trillion RMB in 2020, despite the pandemic. From 2010 to 2019, Xinjiang's GDP per capita more than doubled from RMB 25k to RMB 52k. Again, there's nothing to support forced labor, if the people are actually becoming wealthier.

3. China has been preserving Xinjiang’s cultures and heritage. For instance, Xinjiang Muqam (songs, dance, folk music) was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO through years of effort by China. More surprisingly, banknotes in China are printed in the languages of minorities alongside Chinese. Likewise, street names and building signages in Xinjiang are in Atlaic as well as Chinese languages. There are some 35, 000 mosques in China (mostly in Xinjiang), compared to just 2100 in the US. In fact, the number of mosques in Xinjiang alone is more than that in the entire country of the USA. Still claiming Cultural Genocide - are you kidding me?

4. China’s policies clearly favor the Uyghurs in education, employment, and accommodation. As a minority group, they even receive financial subsidies from local governments. Perhaps the most discriminatory treatment was birth control. Han Chinese, the ethnic majority, was allowed 1 child but Uyghurs could have 2 or 3, depending on whether they lived in urban or rural areas. The said unfair birth control policy was only harmonized in recent years. If anything, domestic policies in China are clearly discriminatory against the ethnic majority (Han) and not its minorities.

5. All Uyghurs can speak their native language (Atlaic). China allows Uyghurs to learn Mandarin as a second language for use in the work environment without forcing them to give up their own language. Just check out the natives in North America and in Australia and see if they can speak their native languages, and you will see the difference between truth and disinformation.

N. Korea has camps, China has camps ( concentration, work etc, )
Anyone who cracks jokes about leaders or criticizes them the whole family goes there. Most stay there until dead. Very very few escape.
Look in your history books unless video games are more important.
Even those will not help when the robot army comes out.
