Is inZOI The Sims Competitor EA Should Be Worried About? - IGN Daily Fix

The life-simulator inZOI has taken the Internet by storm, with lots of gamers currently hopping into the downloadable character creator demo on Steam. The ultra realistic graphics in this game easily slays whatever The Sims is cooking up, and you can take control of your character like any third-person video game on the market. If you still like the point and click mechanics The Sims is known for, you can still do that as well in #inZOI. There’s gameplay online from a select few content creators who got early builds of the game to play around in, and from what I’ve seen personally I’m impressed. Hyper-realistic graphics, the ability to change anything within the game, you actually have to cook or purchase food in order for your character to stay alive. You can also operate vehicles to navigate the city map - this’ll likely draw Grand Theft Auto comparisons for that sole fact. But the difference is, you have to actually purchase vehicles, so no going up to a random car and slipping in … at least none of the gameplay footage showed that, so unsure what we’ll get or see in the final build. I’m sure there’s a lot of Sims fans out there, but The Sims 4 came out almost a decade ago. There hasn’t been a real competitor to The Sims, and the only other game that seemed like it had potential to dethrone EA’s crowning jewel was Paradox Interactive’s Life By You. Life By You was announced back in 2023 with a rather impressive trailer that showcased its open world environment and all the activities you could partake in within it. But after its early access being delayed twice, Life By You was unceremoniously canceled apparently due to the developers lacking confidence in being able to deliver on what it promised gamers in this life sim.

This is what The Sims should have been 5 years ago.

EA has been betting on its fanbase having no other options while selling half baked, broken, overpriced content and now they’re becoming old news.

EA might as well scrap sims 5 and go back to the drawing board cause Inzoi is killing em and it hasn’t even released yet

If only EA actually improved on Sims 3 rather than cutting it down in 4 and then selling barebones dlc with features that should've been in the base game

Sims are officially dead and INZoi hasn't even come out yet, that should say everything, just the character creator alone killed sims. the graphics are beyond anything EA can do.

Am just here to support any thing that makes EA look bad.

Just a little insight for everyone "Sims 5 is still progressing but this definitely has taken EA by surprise, EA is going for a whole new Marketing and player base for the upcoming Sims 5 cough cough mobile 😉."

The only thing that the Sims MIGHT have over Inzoi is accessibility. Inzoi looks like a complicated game, that probably won’t run on most computer models. Unlike the Sims, where you can run it on a literal toaster.

Well if the Sims wouldn't have multiple expensive dlcs with features that should of been in the game at launch

Let’s hope this is it. Why hasn’t there been a “sims competitor” to really take it to the franchise?

The only thing keeping the sims going are the mods.

They prolly going back to the drawing board on sims 5 rn lol like u can drive a car

nah probably not, the reason why sims got to this state is the community. the game is so easy to access even your dell aspire can run it. how many people can run InZoi let alone want to play it with that kind of minimum requirements?

less players=smaller community=awful modding scene

Hopefully, it brings something new to the genre.
