And even if it was it's not like we're celebrating those false gods anyway.

I found a strange discrepancy where every Islamic festival aligns with the celebrations of a pagan religion known as Islam.

People who say any Christian holiday is pegan use sources from 19th century pseudo history books like Alexander hislop.

Or they use the "pegan of the gaps fallacy" as I like to call it, in which they believe something automatically is pegan in which they don't understand the origin of it, or automatically say "if it's not in the Bible it's pegan and you are going against God." If that is the case go to the middle east throw out all your modern clothes and technology, then buy yourself a robe and a camel.

They also might just be reddit atheists who just hate Christianity, and make every respectable atheist look bad.

I mean it's Ahmed Deedat, creator of "Where did Jesus say 'I am God'" non-argument that's a favorite of Muslims.

Also, technically, there is nothing wrong with having the same birthdays.
It's like birthdays becoming a problem.

Ahmad Deedat (the Muslim preacher in the clip) is basically the godfather of all Dawah dudes today. The man’s last debate was regarding the Crucifixion of the Lord with Josh McDowell and I don’t know if this was coincidence or not, but after years of blaspheming Jesus Christ, following the debate with McDowell, Deedat became sick and ended up paralysed. He lay bedridden, only able to move his eyes. He died 9 years after.

The problem with the ‘Dec. 25 was originally a pagan holiday’ argument, is that the Catholics who created a calendar system so accurate that we continue to use it, is that the whole liturgical calendar that includes events like Mary’s annunciation, birth of John the Baptist, which are accurately fixed on the calendar from Christmas; if Christmas was randomly selected to co-opt a pagan festival, that would mean the entire Catholic liturgical calendar is set to one pagan event. No only is this not true, but there’s evidence that all the other events like the annunciation, and the birth of John the Baptist were celebrated on their given dates since the earliest dates of Christianity.

Its amazing how the old zeitgeist theory was disproved so long ago and yet people still state it as facts 😂 I guess when people who believe these things say "do your research" they mean follow third rate sources instead of primary ones

John Chrysostom was one the early church fathers. In a homely he defended the date of December 25th as being just based on passages from the bible. First the public records of the census mentioned in the bible were still publically available, so anyone could have looked them up. Second, based on Luke chapter 1 8-15 the believed that John the Baptised was conceived aroung the time of the festival of the tabernacle, late September. We also know from luke chapter 1 30-37 that when the angel Garbriel anounced to Mary she would bear the Son of God, Elizabeth was already six months pregnant with John the Baptist. This means that Mary became pregnant in late March. Nine months later that brings us to late December.

Just a small correction; Horus was worshipped as a Sun god in some periods in Egypt. The Egyptians would often combine different gods, so he was combined with Ra to become Ra-Horakhty.

Interestingly enough, the idea of Apollo as the sun god seems to be a relatively recent phenominon (like, post Christian recent)

I was taught a child that the 25th was due to the meaning of advent, base level meaning of waiting. story starts with Mary finding out she is expecting. thus it's a waiting for the coming child, the massing, arrival, of Jesus. according to this video, what I was taught was in line with this.

Reminder that Ahmed Deedat should serve as a reminder for those that invoke God's judgement on liars.

He said during a debate something to the effect of, "Whomever is a liar, let God make him a unable to speak." Shortly after he was struck dumb and was unable to speak for the rest of his life

Taylor Marshall has an excellent video on : Was Jesus was born on the 25th December? He goes with Elizabeth's conception and the dates of the Jewish calendars and it really does turn out to be December 24th or 25

I would like to point out that the march 25th is also the date in which we can place the Annunciation because Gabriel says that Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant and we know that the Baptist was conceived at Yom Kippur, year 3761 of the jewish calendar, which was exactly 25th September.
