600Hp Renault Mégane RS RX || SPECTACULAR HillClimb Run

One of last season´s most spectacular and unique moments in French Hillclimb Racing was the Special Guest appearance of GCK Competition owner Guerlain Chicherit on St. Goueno Hillclimb at the wheel of his Renault Mégane RS RX by Prodrive for some fully committed Demonstration runs...

One of the machines fighting for the World Rallycross Chanpionship title, the Mégane RS RX is built by the legendary British motorsport group Prodrive ( Subaru WRC, Mini WRC, etc... ) in collaboration with professional skier and freerider Guerlain Chicherit's rallycross team GC Kompetition. It features a longitudinally mounted bespoke 2-litre turbocharged engine built by Prodrive, with Prodrive's in-house antilag system, all controlled by a Cosworth ECU.
Unlike most Rallycross Supercars, which use Mcpherson struts, the Mégane has a double wishbone suspension system, along with unique in-board brakes, with the brake caliper fixed to the gearbox on the front axle and to the differential on the rear axle. Equipped also with a quite uncommon Xtrac 5-speed sequential manual transmission, it is a pretty daring machine even in the already extreme Rallycross environment, and certainly one all fans enjoyed immensely to watch on the French hillside...

And this is why hillclimb, along with time attack, is the best motorsport in the world-because you can see crazy machinery built with no restrictions raced hard either on mountain roads or circuits while setting crazy fast times.But the best part with those cars is that most are built by privateers and tuning companies that love to push performance above what most people think is possible.

Fun fact, The car was designed by ProDrive and is currently run by GCK. It still runs in the WRX championship ^^. The brakes of the car (If i'm not mistaken) are not behind the wheels but somewhere in the car :D

The Megane had astonishing turn in for a front wheel drive and with Guerlain at the wheel this is just superb. Old Jean Ragnotti would be getting all misty eyed at the thought of backing it in to a few corners!
