So I agree with you on your theory but not on some of your points. Fryes earrings are actually eel teeth and her name means a pack of eels. Also, her eyes are inkling eyes because they are connected, and all the idols have special hair and no hairstyle is categorized specifically by species

Thank you so much! So many people hate on her for her design, so it’s nice to have someone show a different perspective even if it so happens to not be cannon I still think it’s a cool concept. Also they should add glow squid effects for splatfest that would be so cool 😁

A lot of people are posting comments saying that Frye's earrings are actually Eel teeth and yes they are, but in my defense I made this theory before the game came out and before I played the storymode, tbh seeing them as Vampire Squid spikes was understandable at the time. A lot of people are also saying that Frye has Inkling eyes and hair but if you take an even closer look you'll see that Frye has little black triangles on her eyes that female Octolings have and Frye's hair is Inking hair I messed up.

I dont understand the problem with the design people have. I love the design of the Deep Cut cast. Frye included. It helps them stand out from the past idols, like what they did for Off The Hook to stand out from The Squid Sisters. I honestly cannot wait to see Deep Cut concerts.

Those spikes on her ears are actually supposed to be moray eel teeth, which makes sense since she is an eel tamer, much like how Shiver, who has shark teeth on her ears, tames sharks. In fact, both of their names are nods to the creatures they tame, with a group of eels is called a bed, or a fry, of eels, and a group of sharks is called a shiver of sharks.

But in all seriousness, I don’t understand why the fans were/still are freaking out about Frye’s design, when most of the idols aesthetics are themed around the type of squid, octopus or other sea creature they’re based on

Callie, based on the Big Fin Reef Squid, has long super tentacles

Marie, based on the Firefly Squid, is bright green (glow in the dark colours)

Pearl, based on the Pigmy Squid… well it’s kind of obvious

Marina, based on the Webbed foot octopus (has coloured fingertips, which could represent them being webbed

Also to her forehead being huge, it’s like a contrasting design with Shiver. Shiver covers most of their face with their hair while Frye has a huge noggin. Frye has a smaller poncho while Shiver has a bigger one. And Frye has baggier pants while Shiver has tighter ones.
