The Final Wave of Bionicle...

Today we're going to be briefly exploring the final wave of Bionicle as well as my thoughts on it. It was sad to see the theme go in 2009 and I am sure a lot of the Bionicle community was shocked at the time too...

(Sorry for my English) To my understanding, it is speculated that LEGO retured the Bionicle line for a while due to sales. Let me explain:

The later sets didn't sold badly, but LEGO noticed the decrease of sales and they were afraid this might mark the start of the decline of Bionicle. So they decided it is the best to end the line here so the sales of the last wave to still lock good. Why is that important? Well LEGO wanted to sell Bionicle to retail stores as well. If they want to convince the store to sell their products, they need to convince them that the products are selling. The plan was, when they decide to revive Bionicle, they will show retail stores the sales of the very last line (the most relevant line).

When I heard that this was gonna be the last set, I made it my goal to own all of em. And I do. I even got a duplicate Gresh. Too bad, man... I slept on G2, those sets were good, but the story turned me off a lot, it was pretty surface level.

The Red one is so cool! I hope the theme is revived because I would really like to own some Bionicles.

This wave was so forgettable I never even knew it existed. I assumed Bionicle ended with the Glatoran line since that's when I remember them leaving shelves at my local toy stores. I was probably only like 11-12 years old at the time. I bought (well my parents did) a couple of the cheap G2 bionicles when those released but I never really had a connection to lego constraction sets as a child, and I assume they just didn't appeal as much to the early 2000s generation.
