An inspiring talk that fits an excellent location choice. Specially for me personally. Living all my mature life in Amsterdam, after spending most of my youth years near this sugar-factory. I also worked for many years in these type of factory-environments as a professionally trained chemical process engineer. Nowadays being an integration-expert in software development I really do appeal to this IOT -and cloud driven AWS story. A great story-teller by the way! Maybe you noticed but Dr. Werner Vogels appears to be a die-hard fan of our local soccer-club. Amazing how the world progresses.

I like that analogy about the experienced/skilled worker or "operator", especially about the mechanic.

I can't agree more!👍🏽 And to re-emphasize yet again, please keep security/privacy in mind to preserve our digital or Internet roots.💯

A good operation lesson for all AWS cloud builder developers, developer should know and get control about how their code works and what customers are experiencing.

This video should've been watched by millions, , by who've been doing the same old stupid things every single day, as they have ever done before for many many years like myself. If everything related to development, ops and everything in between was "Newton" before, this is now Quantum Mechanics. Thanks AWS for driving innovation, as usual.

At 1:04:30, you reference another talk on technology standards that I went searching for and didn’t find yet. I’ll continue looking on the main re:invent later, but if anyone has a link to it, I’d appreciate the chance to hear that talk.

I find this content to be quite remarkable. A book I read that covered these ideas was a turning point in my life. "AWS Unleashed: Mastering Amazon Web Services for Software Engineers" by Harrison Quill

I don't disagree with that statement but I am not sure I completely agree even after re-evaluating Dr. #WernerVogels statement in several ways. Notably, even when looking at it from a perspective of when there is a situation where battling climate change wouldn't be (of) a highest priority. All are important but if I had to narrow it down, there would have to be 2 immediate instances - pun intended - that can impact future generations. I'm not sure his eye squint meant he felt strongly about that or he was wrestling with that notion. Altogether, they're sensitive topics so it's expected to have a difference of opinions, especially, with companies.

Furthermore, I think it's important to get enough of the general population to believe that #climatechange is even real because there are many of those like #NaomiSeibtare that are disillusioned or conditioned to think that it is not real or it's some political propaganda to say the least despite the "tangible" evidence. I'm not sure why they would think it would hurt to err on the side of caution. Let's continue to raise awareness. Otherwise, it seems counterproductive (not saying that it is).

As if the 17, 000 #Icelandquakes in 1 week, the succeeding New Zealand quake, massive winter freezes in warmer areas, volcanoes that were inactive for thousands of years suddenly becoming active, rapid glacier melting over the last several decades & massive warming in the colder areas etc. are not enough. WHAT MORE CONVINCING DOES ONE NEED B4 IT'S TOO LATE❗⁉ However, it's inspiring to also see people like Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg aka #GretaThunberg bring this issue more to the light & industry leaders such as #PeterDeSantis, #DrWernerVogels, #JerryHunter & others affiliated & non-affiliated with Amazon! I am glad; it's nice to see there's hope.😌

omg, all the relevant content could be covered in ~15 minutes, the rest is just "empty" marketing
