How to celebrate Mabon || Wiccan Wheel of the Year

Learn about how to celebrate Mabon, that wonderful wiccan wheel of the year festival and the second harvest festival of the year. This is my personal favourite of the two (although secretly I am a May Day kind of witch). Today’s video should give you some ideas about what to make for your feast and with the full moon so close to Mabon I also show you some extra special Mabon moon water.

Herby soda Bread
250g / 9oz Plain Flour
50g / 2oz Porridge Oats
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
1 teaspoon dried herbs
25g / half oz Butter
250ml / Half a pint of Buttermilk

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl to make a sticky dough. Turn onto a floured tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 centigrade / 350F for approximately 30minutes or until the bottom when tapped sounds hollow.

Ginny’s Tomato Relish
500g / 18oz Tomatoes
1 red onion
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon dried chilli flakes (optional)
250ml / 8.5 fl oz Cider vinegar
125g / 4oz Sugar

Roughly chop the tomatoes, then finely chop the red onion and garlic. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and stir to combine. Heat gently until simmering and then gently continue cooking for about forty minutes stirring constantly to prevent the bottom sticking. Cool and place in a sterilised jar where it will last for about three weeks.

I absolutely love fall, my favorite season. (These days I get hot fast, due to medicine and excess body fat). So, summer is my least favorite, (until I get off the meds and lose the fat), but getting older won't change, so we'll see how things play out. In the ancient world, everyone would have been a witch - communing with nature and negotiating with her for bountiful summers and getting through cool or rainy seasons. Everything depended upon the whims of Mother Nature.
Wish you could see how I've decorate my makeshift fireplace mantel.// By the way, you could consider *selling* some of your concoctions too. Not everyone has the DIY spirit and some viewers are probably not even witches. I'm not, but I am fascinated with its history and the aspect of _self care_ you bring to it.

I grew up in New England, and the early puritans didn’t celebrate Christmas. It was seen a a boisterous and drunken festivalThe Bible didn’t talk about celebrating Christmas, so it was considered a day of work. Thanksgiving was celebrated instead, being seen as much more respectable, and done later in the year like Christmas would have been. . (I never did understand this. Thanksgiving isn’t mentioned in the Bible either.)
