Haha... I got this penalty as a kid.. Broke my stick and snatched one from another player on the opposing team.. TBH nobody ever told me I couldnt do it up to that point..

Great trick is when an opponent breaks his stick, give him yours to use. 😂

This is one of those penalties that was absolutely called right according to the rules, but should not be a penalty as it goes against the spirit of the game. Guy obviously didnt mean to hamper the other player by taking his stick, was just trying to get back into the play.

Bobby Ryan literally ripped Mikko Koivus stick out of his hand and proceeded to score a goal with it, and it counted.

Happened again tonight, 10 days after this, in St. Louis. Parayko lost his stick in 3 on 3 in the corner in overtime. Tarasenko gave his stick to Parayko, and eventually went to the corner to get Parayko's stick, then got called for the penalty. Even Larry Robinson on the STL bench was confused at that one.
