I was surprised that they used a different opening, which is kinda refreshing though. And another surprised is that T'Lyn is absent in this episode, I really want to see her more before the season end.

Since Star Trek Lower Deck Season Five began I've started to notice in episode two, three and four that Biomler was trying to grow a beard or moustache because when I saw the first and second trailer a while back Biomler never have any.

I love hearing that you think the most recent stories are lacking. What I'm missing is an analysis as to why. What do you think the show was trying to do? How did it fail? Where do you think Trek or other shows did something similar better? Or where do you think Trek has made a similar mistake before? How do you think the episodes might be improved/what would you have preferred to see LD do?

I liked the slideshow type overview of the two storylines at the beginning. A line or two in there foreshadowing your coming criticism (this was a lackluster episode) would be a great hook, and give the review more narrative structure.

Love that you're up for discussion in the comments. Having more precise points of criticism would help spur and direct that.

Also, show me the merch Nick. Hold up the shirts. Show off their features. Tell me their story. Sell them to me. Bargains are nice and all, but they sometimes actually depress sales with 'this must not be worth much/a good product' vibes. Get excited about how cool they are, so I can get excited too.

the name for this bird race made me think of the movie Spaceballs where the Dark Helmet said: I'm surrounded by .... ( and I think you know the rest)

I’m so glad you figured out the meaning of the bird species🤣🤣

I don't think this “came out if nowhere, " necessarily. It made a good follow up (and possible conclusion) to Ma'ah's arc since he first appeared back in Season 2.

We've seen him be a lower decker, become a captain, lose his commission to mutiny and now having to recover from that.

Thank you, I to make interesting would have mentioned the moustache .lol

That’s hilarious, I had no idea that’s where the species name comes from!

Those two he was meeting certainly fit the species name.

This is the ONLY Trek episode to omit the opening theme/credits…and instead put all the credits on screen in the episode itself

This episode is a Dr. Tabers Migleemo episode.

They wanted to expand more on his character

I really like the Klowahkan story and cultural development. Sure it seems a bit strange to base a culture around food only, but so is it to base it only on honor and battle. I guess as old Star Trek fans we are just more used to the latter. So form societal perspective I felt like the Klowahkans are a nice contrast to the Klingons. Both cultures are formed around extremes. Honor and battle are everything to the Klingon and food and eating are everything to the Klowahkans. And of course, both cultures are portrayed as ignorant towards other cultures and know cruel punishments for those who violate their code of conduct.

The naming of the Klowakians was a play on words, I am under the impression that the writers wanted to name their species "Buttholes." And to have buttholes eat shit and enjoy it was histerically funny.

I enjoyed the episode it was fun the captain going back to the farm just like Picard and instead of growing wine from grapes they are making blood wine I thought it was a classic joke. Seeing Klingons as a more normal race was also fun. The B story was ok but I think the episode would have been better without it. They should have just had the entire episode set on K’ronos.

Maagh is my 2nd favorite klingon after worf. Those food critics were acting like a couple of a-holes 😄

And to think: they found in the food what Tim Russ didn't find in the desert in Spaceballs 🤣
