About Me
After growing up in Central Ohio, the natural progression is to move to Columbus, but this was a very different town in the early 2000s. After surviving the Great Recession, Columbus has been on an absolute tear. While the recession was rough, we tended to fare better than many other cities partially due to the diverse amount of employers in the area. That, along with a focus on redevelopment of areas close to Downtown, population growth and the relatively cheap cost of living have helped buoy the Central Ohio area.

It doesn't seem that long ago in 2009 when residents were stoked to get Yuengling Lager to the area. Fast forward a short decade and today we have over 50 local breweries and our own "Ale Trail". That is just one of the fantastic changes.

Leaving for ten years, I left more or less a cow town and returned to a City bustling with boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants, a renewed focus on fitness and somehow it seemed sunnier. In fact, it was such a cool city that we decided to stay.

Incredibly horrible city government. The mayor needs to be removed.

Crime is in fact, #1. We need more manufacturing and we need better low cost homes, not apartments, we need a local team to come together and start flipping these old homes and not doubling or tripling the price on them. The bottoms needs to be completely redone and it needs to be done by people who care about the communities and not people who care about share holders. There is no reason a house that a house bought it 2002 for $40, 000 gets flipped in 2022 and sold for $180, 000. It’s barely 1, 000 sq ft, that is ridiculous. A young family needed to be able to buy that home for $110, 000 to $120, 000 max. You want to help eliminate this crime and poverty, bring more blue collar jobs and renovate these homes and sell them to young families at reasonable prices. This corporate out of state bullshit happening here needs to stop and it’s up to us to do it. And fix Columbus Public Schools, shit is disgraceful. Some of these schools don’t even have proper AC. Our local government should be ashamed.

I really like Columbus. Good jobs and very good restaurants, and good people. Tons of live music festivals. Also, so much rich cultural diversity. Lots of languages, houses of worship and more. The best PRO is our amazing parks and bike trails! We have so many. The con? Housing and apartment prices have shot up horribly! It has become very expensive. 😂

I also left Boulder Colorado to move to Columbus.😅
One of the first things I noticed is you share the road with a LOT of beat up cars and the high amount of red light runners

Property taxes in Columbus proper are significantly less than the suburbs, particularly Dublin, Grandview, and Upper Arlington.

Im considering moving there to Columbus, Ohio from New Jersey. This state is getting insane! And you can really feel the aftermath of the pandemic here. Real Estate prices/taxes are getting higher & higher. Not that it was affordable before to begin with.

As a life long Columbusite, I appreciate these videos. Keep'em up! Also, reminder that CMH is no longer "Port Columbus". The name was changed a few years back to John Glenn International.

Greed and corruption 🤬 people are getting sick of it, no matter what state your from. Cause it's in every state!
The playing field needs to be leveled in the worst way.
And corporations and individuals that took advantage...there needs to start being accountability.
Its just going to get worse and keep looping till the corruption is addressed.

Great video Andy! Every time I watch your videos it makes me want to come and visit Columbus. One comment. I think Columbus should find one thing that they are ¨known for and that would make Columbus more of a destination place. I think you have a great personality and you should get involved in the Chamber of Commerce and come up with something. Maybe Columbus could be a the Biking Capital, Tiny Home Capital, or maybe get some kind of Festival that grows to be the biggest of its kind in the US--something that would really put Columbus on the map and make people want to visit and/or move there. I have confidence that you and others like you could get together and figure something out. It would be nice if Columbus could outgrow some of its current perceptions.

Yeah, you have high property taxes, but also you can get a house with a yard for 200k and not 1 million like san francisco or NYC/Boston, so that right there is a better!
