This is a comparison between Samsung S95C QDOLED and Pioneer Elite PRO-151FD Plasma: gaming and regular content.

S95C 55' HDR vs 9G Kuro Plasma SDR (Pioneer Elite PRO-151FD 60')
Disclaimer: the Plasma looks amazing on camera and might appear better but it cannot be. My camera is not making the S95C justice.

Disclaimer: The Pioneer Kuro looks way too amazing on this video, and it doesn't look quite at that level in person. Plasmas look amazing on camera.

Iam amazed how 2008 sdr plasma looks more organic than 2024 hdr oled on camera ; thanks for the comparison .

Hilarious intro and great video, and yes totally agreed there's an important correlation between brightness and motionblur. Really puts into perspective all these different technologies. at least HDR support in hardware gives real meaning to the higher brightness because the content actually uses that brightness to show more details/colors/range :)

A fascinating point on the previous comparison coverage of the F8500 as well as in the wrap up. It's not an apples for apples comparison as most videos frame the comparison without discussing motion in proper perspective. QD-OLED capabilities are huge but there are content & software issues like with HDR. Truly wish pixel persistence the way you discuss it was how the main stream & enthusiast coverage discussed these matters. Can't imagine how the Blur Busters chief feels about the way all these Hz discussions go covering gaming monitors & tv's, haha. The marketing of 144, 240, 480 & so on is almost like selling us back what was lost in a way.

To me the Plasma looks more natural, I can see more detail in the dark highlights more. The HDR on the S95C is sometimes blown out way too saturated, but of course trough the camera on YouTube via my screen.

Great video - it's near impossible to find a comparison of HDR vs SDR and this was a good one. Obviously, Plasma is no longer an option but it would be interesting to see the Kuro in SDR vs the S95C in SDR. TVs have improved but less than people believe - a Kuro is still going to produce a gorgeous image. It's also 1080p which is the other thing. It would interesting if the Kuro unleashed its brightness like LEDs do.

I would love to see a company smart and brave enough to continue working on plasma once again. 👌 could you imagine the sheer quality of a plasma tv screen today if they had not stopped working on it.

I have had a 60 inch Panasonic P60ST60 from 2014 and I just got a LG C4 Monday. I've always raved about plasma and was always impressed with this TV as I know it was one of the best at that time. I did research before buying the plasma and found out that the old Pioneer Elite engineers had moved over to Panasonic which culminated in my TV which I believe was the last year Plasmas were made or close to it at least for Panasonic, and I've heard the 2014 models were basically the best they have ever produced. I absolutely love the TV. I have an eye for quality or at least I think I do. I'm a heavy gamer and was always telling myself my gosh if it looks this good on this TV at 1080p, I just can't believe it could get much better. Yes the C4 is amazing the 4 days I've had with it, but there is something special about that plasma. It has to be the motion, and something about that color saturation as you say. Would you be able to PLEASE make a video on or discuss the C4 compared to Panasonic Plasmas or Pioneer Plasmas for gaming or just the all around experience? Great work! Love the passion!

I'm watching this on my own Elite Kuro set, with my Sony Bravia XR OLED sitting downstairs. I like them both very much.

I still love my Plasma, but when it dies I really hope that QD OLED will make me happy too..

I am seeing a lot of clipping in the highlights of the Samsung. I was until recently using a vt20 plasma and moved to an A95l. I loved my plasma, especially for the 3d and motion. Colours and depth you get on the qd-oled are insane.

One day you will say fuck it and get one of these super large professional Panasonic Plasma TVs.. 65inch, 85 inch.. 🙂
They are out there.. Especially in the US!

SDR does look better on a plasma than SDR on an OLED.

ive upgraded from a plasma to an oled.... now if only if the plasmas we're build 2024.... this sony oled is way more vivid without loss of contrast!

Uh, the kuro in PC mode is much dimmer than in video mode. In PC mode, the black KURO technology is not active, since PC mode bypasses the processor, and the black color is controlled by the processor. And these strange settings of yours in the Nvidia panel confuse me. KURO has 88-90% dci-p3, which is not bad for a 2008 panel. In any case, 50" is much brighter and visually looks more saturated than 60", although their color coverage is identical

Bottom line is Rec 709 SDR is the sweet spot. You're not really missing out with the Wreck Your Eyeballs HDR of today. Pioneer 101FD and Panasonic ZT/VT/ST 60 series are the kings for that. 👌

Here’s a video challenge for you: put the same content side by side on your QD-OLED in HDR and your Pioneer Kuro in SDR. Don’t go cherry-picking the best HDR content—just grab a couple of random HDR or Dolby Vision videos from Prime or Netflix. You’ll see that SDR blows HDR out of the water 99% of the time. Think I’m wrong? Prove it. Consider this a challenge, and I’d really like to see you make this video. It’ll surprise a lot of people. Will you do this video?
