As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results and about well aging, I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

Thank you Dr Anne! I try to avoid using the heater as much as possible to avoid dry air inside the home. I also love more buttery products like Shea or Cacao butter products as a night cream. My skin can get kind of flaky around the U-zone since I've started using Tretinoin. More lipid containing products after Tretinoin for the night routine usually do the trick :D

I've just added the. Odinarys modulating glucoside plus Aveeno Calm and restore oat moisturising gel topped off with Cetaphil rich night cream. Seems to be working so far 🤞 I also find it is harder to drink enough water in the winter and that probably adds to the dry skin issues for me.

Not too many changes. I go back to bland and gentle moisturizers. I like the USA brand Vanicream. I still use Differin most nights. I switch my AHA to a lower strength one and use only 1x a week. Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-yAHA. I wish we had that Linola Fett here! Looks soothing.

I switched my cleanser from G&G Jelly joker to Cetaphil Cleansing lotion, added an oil in the evening and a Vaseline mask, wich is a layer of Vaseline on my face once a week, Saturday or Sunday, when I know I won't be leaving the house most of the day.I keep the mask for a few hours.

My skin reacted to the cold dry air badly. I stopped all actives and added in CeraVe Healing Ointment at night, LaRoche Posay Toleraine Double Repair moisturizer twice day and The Ordinary 100% Squalane at night. Like you, I'm only cleansing at night and I'm using The Ordinary art Squalane cleanser.

Have you seen the brand EqualRXN? I just changed my cleansing routine. I use Albolene’s Micellar Milk Makeup Remover then I use Avene’s new reformulated Xeracalm Oil Cleanser. They’re such a good match. Once a week I use Wishtrend’s Mandelic Acid. Moisturizer is Purito’s Sleeping Pack. Sunscreen is EltaMD UV Sport. I’m not into other anti-aging things. I’m too lazy and don’t care. 😂

My doctor said to try semen on my face as a measure against Winter dryness. He's one of those earthy, sort of New Age doctors. My husband had a vascectomy, so that won't work. But our son is staying with us for the holidays. Do I make this an awkward request from my son, or should I get a second opinion?
