Replace Sprinkler Head in 5 Mins - Easy DIY Fix

This is a fast and easy way to change/replace your broken sprinkler head with a new one. A knife or trowel works great to cut out a donut around the head, dig down just far enough to unscrew and pull out the old sprinkler, slide in the new one (my soil was already wet, but if yours is dry, it's worth wetting the soil beforehand so the dirt doesn't collapse into the hole), screw on, adjust throw and radius, and that's about it.

This works good for Rain Bird (like I used in this video), as well as Hunter, Orbit and many others. I bought each replacement head for about $12 at HD.

Why did the hole you dug up fill with water at the end once tightened and replaced?

Allowing dirt to get into the new head, head is too low, and a leak. Is this what not to do?
