In this video I show you how I practice drawing faces and give you some tips along the way. I like to practice drawing characters that belong together in a story to help practice for sequential storytelling.

What ways do you practice for your comic art? Do you use reference or avoid it all together? Share your thoughts below!

"What makes art exciting is the viewer connecting the dots" love that advice.

I like this format, traditional art more then digital art.

It's really helpful to know that even after 20 years of drawing, you still struggle with things sometimes. That gives me so much more confidence that "Practice makes perfect" and mistakes are ok.

I love hearing your insight into how you approach and think about drawing. You talk specifically about certain techniques you do and I find that hard to come by, a lot of artists will talk about things not directly related to what theyre drawing and your narration is very well paired with what youre working on.

I love watching you draw. This was hypnotic. I really like how you plan out your drawing then erase it to find your lines.

I enjoy watching your videos. The tips you drop casually are super helpful and informative. I love your dry humor and tone. I watch all your videos and take notes consistently. Keep doing what you're doing and don't get discouraged by the algorithm of this platform.

I think I saw someone else mention this, but I have a really hard time simplifying things, especially if I'm using a reference. I used to help my kids with their art and now I find myself having to refrain from giving advice at times because their styles are closer to where I want to be, in regards to simplification. Long story short...a video on knowing where and when to hold back on detail would be great! I do manage to pull it off sometimes, and I love the feeling of satisfaction I get from it, but I'd like to be more consistent.

Loved this video!

Can you do a video on the 3 quarters view, and shading the face? Please and thank you.

I'm a huge fan. You've been a big part of my artistic journey.

My suggestion is to keep going with the traditional drawing videos. Digital is all well and fine, but it kind of sucks the romance out of the art.

So, thumbs up! Great video! You keep making them, and I'll keep watching them!

I have followed your channel for a long time I enjoy the stuff you do, please don’t turn in to a YouTube fake person I hate those channels it’s cool seeing someone be real on camera instead of stupid click bait gimmick videos or trying to piss people off with fake political crap, your knowledge on art is always appreciated thanx for the content and stay true to you!

I enjoyed watching you draw the faces and discussing your process and thoughts about technique, even if other artists have done similar videos, it is nice to hear from a variety of artists on the same topic. Show us how you use reference, or how you draw specific scenes, objects or textures, show us your experimentations with other media that you are not as familiar with. I like all of those things when they are coming from skilled artists such as yourself.

I love seeing you use traditional materials here, as opposed to digital. What kind of pencil, lead, and paper are you using here?
