My GP said to avoid all spices because my liver enzymes were high indicating liver damage. I totally changed my diet, ate lots of tumeric and black pepper, garlic and ginger and within 4 weeks I had greatly reversed my liver damage. Drs need to be more aware of the benefits that certain foods can give us and how they can help to reverse some health issues.

I'm reading the ingredients on my bottle of Spice Supreme brand curry, which I sprinkle liberally on virtually everything I eat. It contains: turmeric, coriander, fenugreek, chilies, cumin, cloves, black pepper, onion, and garlic. It's a one-stop shop.

I really love this video and all the advice on spices and also Dr. Gundry's books. When I first found his book about 8 years ago I wasn't ready for what he was saying because it was dramatically different than all the other health books I had. I few years later I found his books again and was ready for them and I've been following his 'The Longevity Paradox Diet book for 5 years now and I feel great and am aging very gracefully and am in better health than almost all my friends and family except the ones half my age. I'm a senior and feel great everyday all day long and am still slim like i was at 19 years old. The fat or obese people that I know tell me that I'm too skinny, however they are the one with the weight and medical problems and on prescription drugs because they neglected their health and neglected to educate themselves on health and left that up to their doctor to take care of with a prescription drug that only reduces symptoms and does nothing to fix the problem and the drug has side effects. Ignorance of real healthy foods, spices and supplements contributes to the poor health of a high percent of people.

Do on-line research on cinnamon and tumeric as some countries selling these spices in local grocery stores have gigh levels of lead. I always look for Ceylon cinnamon and order my lead-free Turmeric from a farm in Hawaii.

I have heard that pepper does relax / open the gut junctions to improve absorption, but by doing this, the open gut junctions allow anything you have eaten to enter the blood stream easily too.
Also, cacao & cocoa are super high in oxalates. To help alleviate the absorption of the oxalates just eat s high calcium containing food, such as cheese or full fat yogurt along with. The oxalates will bind with the calcium and pass through the intestines.

Tumeric, black pepper and cumin, is a staple to most of my cooking, one also has to take into consideration, that spices can also either over heat the body, or cool the body which is also a major factor in keeping a balance in the body according to the ancient traditional Indian medical system Ayurveda.

Welcome to Indian cuisines! Turmeric and so many other spices have been used in Indian cuisines since thousands of years. In fact historically India used to be the hub for imports by all countries for spices. 'Garam masala' an integral part of Indian cuisines itself contains around 8 spices. Turmeric milk is also used in India since thousands of years.

I use this for salad dressings, but can be used for marinades and added to chicken broth: Start with less vinegar.
1/3 olive oil
1/3 lemon juice
1/3 apple cider vinegar
Savory spices: Tumeric, black pepper, ginger, cayenne pepper, chili, rosemary, sage, paprika, oregano.

For coffee:
* Vanilla
* Ginger
* Cinnamon (Ceylon): Mix with a little hot water first to dissolve.
* Ground cloves
* Honey (optional)

It’s also important to use a oil or fat when taking turmeric as it is a fat soluble compound

This is why the experienced, older, elder woman in a tribal society made the first meal/ drink of the day when stoking the communal fire...she knew what the tribe needed to stay healthy! Usually spices and herbs were her specialty and her food was more than comfort food it truly was medicine!!!! For years, I've been saying that the "cook" was an amazing important part of trial community!

Same as with the question how was the animal raised and what it was fed with, goes for spices - they absolutely need to be organic / ecological.
