Ingredients:

- 2 x 425g cans of tuna in spring water, drained
- 50g unsalted butter
- 60g flour
- 500ml milk
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 150g frozen peas
- 1 bunch chives, sliced thin
- 200g grated mozzarella
- 40g panko bread crumbs
- Pepper, to taste

Method:

1. Start by draining the tuna and setting aside
2. Next in a medium pot, add the butter and melt over a medium heat
3. Once the butter is melted, add the flour and stir with a whisk
4. Season with salt before adding the milk 1/4 at a time, whisking until you have a smooth white sauce
5. Add the mustard, salt and pepper and check for seasoning
6. Now add the frozen peas and stir in well
7. Mix the white sauce and 3/4 of the chives with the tuna
8. Pour the tuna mixture into an oven dish and top with half the cheese, then the panko bread crumbs, then the other half of the cheese and the remaining chives
9. Bake at 180ºc for 25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy
10. Enjoy!

My mum would always put in spiral pasta and chopped boiled eggs. She’d also make the white sauce base by first sautéing onions and then she’d mix some of the leftover brine with milk for the liquid. Always sliced tomato on top before baking too!

Throw in a box of cooked Macaroni and you've got what my family called Tuna Casserole.

This will never not be a staple for me. The first thing I learnt how to cook from my mum so it's got a special place in my heart

One of my favorite childhood dishes is this with pasta baked in. Mama called it tuna casserole.

if anybody wondering why his oven controls were blinking, it's because the camera fps was matching up with the frequency of the lights from the controls

I made this for dinner and everyone loved it. My mom used to make this back in the 80s. I had forgotten about it. Good source of protein.

My mum made this all the time in the 90's and 2000's too it's one of my favourites, she'd make these amazing cheesy scrolls that sat in it and soaked up the sauce. So good.

I grew up eating tuna gravy on toast..I didn't know just add some herbs, cheese and bread crumbs and it became fancy. I am so gonna make this for my kids now. Thanks so much for a great channel and the cooking lessons. Cheers.

We still do this as a dinner in the meal cycle. Make a double batch, freeze some and it's great for mid week meals or a decent lunch.

The 80s are still alive and jumping. Tuna Moray is good no matter the decade. So good.

Back in the 70's there was a TV show called 'Welcome Back Kotter' where one of the running jokes was a tuna casserole his wife made. I'm sure Kotter would have appreciated this one!
