Oversized slouchy jackets don’t flatter anyone. Models know that oversized jackets photograph better when you leave the jacket unbuttoned and walk/stand w/ a hand on the hip or inside the pocket. This trick helps to accentuate the waist and push the overwhelming fabric aside and reveal the body/form for the camera to see. 📸

So true Anna….I’m a US size 12/14. I don’t consider myself plus size and I get frustrated with these ridiculous trends that the fashion industry pushes on us! I just look big and sloppy in oversized….it’s not classy at all.

Thank you for being HONEST! I stopped listening to the “TikTok fashion gurus” for this very reason. Dress according to YOUR body!

Agreed! I despise oversized anything, it's sooo not elegant, especially for normal size or thicker women, it makes us look bigger & less elegant.

I’m short but mid-size so oversized is definitely a no go for me, but I also don’t like fitted items on me either- it’s an eternal struggle. Still trying to find my style and what suits me best. I generally find dresses more flattering than pants, but in the autumn and winter that isn’t as realistic to wear

I agree. I tried on a pair of wide leg jeans yesterday, and they looked horrible. They made me look like a box.

I’m petite and skinny but oversized clothes just make me look like I pretend to be teenager who steal mom’s clothes.

So true, this is why as an artist when drawing I look at old paintings of women. Who have regular size or plus size body and see how the dress them and then try my best to find outfits today to create a character from it

Agree
I find also navy is a very elegant color for women who are over 50 maybe with a white or grey or bright color stripe singularly placed
In my late 20’s even, my favorite evening long dress was a long sleeved with a slit Donna Karan wool matériel dress. It was elegant sleek and timeless style. Oh I wish I kept it !

Your so right, most models are a size o doing this, totally agree with you!

Completely agree! It doesn't really flatter anyone, but I'm sure the reason behind this trend is cost effectiveness aka making more money to the clothing companies. It's really a shame that well tailored clothes are so hard to find these days. Oversized -> no tailoring into an intricate shape -> less production phases - > lower production costs

I'm size eu 36, but I look awful in oversized clothes.
Not only do you need to be slim, you need to have a certain body shape for wearing oversized clothes

I agree, oversize clothes just don’t look good on my body type. I prefer fitted long sleeve for autumn with some nice trousers, jeans or skirt.

I love that you touched on this. I was thinking of buying some oversized clothing but this video confirmed that I should not. I wear size 6 and feel that I might not be skinny enough.

Oh my goodness I’m so glad you said this. I almost left a comment for a short I saw with a woman comparing before and after.. and BOTH were frumpy. Neither outfit was complimenting or feminine! And she was skinny too!!!

I’ve always said baggy clothes only go with petite and skinny body types. Thanks for addressing this. Even at my lightest weight I’ve always been slim on top and wide on the bottom. When I would where a loose of top, it made me look bigger since my bottom is naturally bigger. But when I where clothes that fit me well, it shows my curves.

At work, they gave us free uniforms. I said, "I want a size large". My supervisor said, "No, you are a size medium. And think about it this way: the bigger you wear, the bigger you get". So if you insist on wearing oversized clothing, well, good luck!!!

I would love a video on being elegant while being a POC or a plus size woman. You brought up a very good point about how sizing trends not only give off a different feeling but are more tailored for certain people.
