I made this antenna which beats one I purchased online. Was getting 20 channels with the one purchased online but now with this one I am getting 66 channels in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. Really does work. Thanks Danny !!

Hello Danny, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I built one using your design with stuff I had laying around just to see if it was worth messing with. I used a 48" 2x4 for the frame, 1/2" thick cutting board for the insulators, a 24" wide wire shelf panel like what you buy at the home improvement store for the reflector and some large diameter, maybe 3/16", solid copper wire. Radio Shack had the transformer for $6. I didn't solder anything the first time around. I set it on 2" PVC 8ft in the air. We went from 17 channels to 47 channels with a maximum distance of 64miles away in 1080HD!!! Again thank you. I'm going to rebuild this one to fix some of my rigged mess and solder the connections. I'm gonna replace the wood 2x4 with something else too.

Hi Mr. Hodges. I want to thank you for your instructional video. I recently needed to return to S Texas for a week to do some work and wanted an antenna, but since I was only going to be there for a week I didn't want to waste my money buying another antenna that would only pick up 21 stations. I know that's all they get because I've bought 2 and neither one was better than the other - until i made one according to your instructions. Mine didn't look as good as your ultimate antenna but it worked way better than expected. I used 1-1/2" PVC for the mast and attached whiskers that I made from wire I had laying around. I stuck it on a pole about 18 feet in the air and scanned 51 stations that came in perfectly clear.

Mine isn't very good looking but I used your spacing for the whiskers and it absolutely blows away the other antenna I was using. It worked so well my neighbor wanted one for his camper so I gave it to him when I was done. I'll make another one when I go back again.

Thank you again for a very good video.

Hi Danny. Great videos and I subscribe too!

About your materials. The mast looks like square metal tubing. Is that correct? I am assuming it is aluminum if it is metal. I see this at the home stores in 1 inch square size, 5 feet long for about $20 a piece. If not, what is that square and blue tube you use? Thanks and keep the videos coming.

I built one very similar the only difference is my elements were made out of 17-1/2 inch copper wire, so after bends they are about 8 inches where yours are around 10 inches. I live halfway between Atlanta and Birmingham so (like you) I am just over 60 miles east of Birmingham, around 65 from Douglasville & 90 from Atlanta. I have mine aimed a few degrees to the right from Birmingham towards Gadsden so I will pick some of theirs up on the side and fringe. I have an older Winegard 200 but it is starting to fluctuate some, so I was thinking of replacing it with either a newer Winegard 200LXT possibly a Channel Master 7778. I still pick up about 30 channels but 5 of those are religious from the same net and 3 that are relayed from other stations from the same net. I was picking up 13.1, -2, & -3 out of Birmingham, but have lost it since the fluctuations. It is a High VHF so it could be getting more noise interference from the old transformer. But I replaced the balun, checked all connections (which I had waterproofed) with no difference, and checked all my elecment connections, all looks good. But like I said, the signal has lowered somewhat and flutuates where it didn't before. I think the circuit board in the winegard is heating up and then breaking down. I can unplug it let it set a spell, then plug it back up and it will work great for a while, but then start fluctuating again. I also thought about making another and pointing east and join them with a winegard splitter/combiner, basically kind of like a DB8 design. Good video by the way. Enjoyed it.

Liked your video. Short and to the point. Plus I love the southern accent

Hey Danny, great antenna! Could you please give us a parts list. Like what size copper wire for your whiskers and the plastic spacers. Thanks in advance. BTW I like your videos.

I have questions. Why cross the wires at the ends and why put the grid wire on the backside? Curious what it does for the signal

Danny, have you ever used the TV FOOL tool to see how many stations you were supposed to get with an antenna? Do you get more with your antennas than what they say you'll get?? I currently have an 8 bay antenna I purchased and I don't get as many channels as I had hoped. Do you think I'd get more with one of yours than the one I purchased??
Thank you for all the knowledge sharing!!

If you ground the reflector "to a good ground, very important" the antenna gain will improved great!

made a 4 bay antenna it worked good better then from a store. I live about 82 miles from a t.v station without a t.v antenna amp pickup 15 channels.

Great video, thanks for posting. Do you think this would pickup inside, behind a thin (3")-stone wall? can I scale this up to, say, 8ft long? I want to install one behind a faux stone wall I'm putting up.

Hi Danny, I love your videos on antennas. You said that you got the main beam for the ultimate antenna at the home store. Are you talking about the home depot? I have asked several employees if they carried anything like that, they all said no. Can you tell me what department you found this in?

Thank You

I'm planning on Building this, I'm in need of an Antenna for my Media Server Running Plex and a TV Tuner Card.

What would help me because I'm partial deaf, is I didn't hear all the dimensions. Would it be possible to include those on the board so I know how far down for each section and such?
