He see's Reigen not as an esper beyond that, he's a mentor.
He doesn't respect Reigen bcs he thought he has esper power, but bcs he listened to him eventhough he has troubles connecting with people.
Reigen actually influences and molded Mob that become who he is now. If he found another mentor who's evil, with that power, he could be an asocial supervillain.
Goddamn i really respect the fact that the author makes Reigen a normal guy instead of a secret esper or some sort.

“You know, I’m a liar. I’ve been lying to you this whole time.”
“I know, I’ve always known, but I will still be by your side.”

Reigen is a "joke" character done right. He's not powerful but he's still a wise adult with a strong moral center.

Crap the feels are strong in this scene. You can just see how hard that hit him, and it made him happy too.

I'd rank this next to Gintama in terms of the ability to "Make You Laugh, and then Cry After a Few Seconds"

It makes total sense. Mob is who he is because of reigen. In the start, mob did not actually want help with his psychic power but with his emotions and his goals and problems like that. Reigen could never teach him psychic stuff but he did teach him how to be a good guy. "You're a genuinely good guy" he says this acknowledging that fact and how reigen was exactly what he needed for his problems in the first place, he never needed an esper or a very powerful person as his mentor, he just needed a genuinely good guy. Also ITS ENOUGH TO MAKE A GROWN MAN CRY AND THAT'S OK

Man this anime is so good. Mob doesn't need someone to teach him how to be an esper, he's already the strongest in the world. He needs someone to teach him how to be human, flaws and all, and that's what Reigen is to him. Such a beautiful moment.

Reigen spent his whole life trying to become 'something': to be able to define who he was. Working at a regular 9 to 5 job, he felt constrained and left on a whim, but his vague efforts as a psychic didnt work out either.

Right as he was about to pack it in, along comes mob. Just another ordinary day for Reigen, but with this kid looking to him for answers, as if he was at the edge of a cliff and needed someone to pull him back.

Remembering his troubles as a kid, Reigen reassures the young boy and tells him everything's going to be all right. Just a few words that didn't cost anything from Reigen, to him they didnt mean anything.

But the fact that he said them so casually, that he helped this boy as a matter of course: that defined Reigen to the boy.

All these years later at his lowest point, Reigen asks that same boy if he knows 'who' he is as defined by his mother, his friends and the world: a conman, a loser or someone who uses others.

Mob tells him who he is, saving Reigen as casually as Reigen once saved him: Reigen is a good person. THAT is who he is.

reigen's voice when he asks mob if he knows, i can hear him holding back tears. to me, somehow more than mob telling him he's known all along, that scene hit the hardest. breaking the news (or i guess in this case, asking them if they know) that you've been deceiving them, lying to them for so long; they executed that perfectly. the tinge of guilt and shame in his voice as he chokes up gets me every time.

for reigen, someone who always sounds so confident and certain in himself, to sound so vulnerable and weak in this scene? that was what sold it for me.

bruh, have seen it like hundred times but the feel still the same and my tears always shown up.
idk, the moment when the music and mob saying reigen is good guy and after that the flashbacks when reigen try to help child mobs with his power and position in this world make my tears drop.
my eyes was wet but my lips has a big smile over their bonds as teacher and disciples.
its fuckin great show, i need to watch again from beginning

I remember when I was reading the manga, I lit had to drop it for weeks because I couldn't stomach reading through Reigen's press conference.

Mob’s “I’ve always known, ” and “is genuinely a good person” hits REALLY hard because it pinpoints perfectly how mob follows reigen around not because he thought reigen is a powerful esper, but how he genuinely admired him as a person. absolutely love this.

I love how at start reigen wanted to use mob for his own convinence . But then he started to like mob more and more and care about him like a brother
