The Canadian government began rolling out its first of four carbon rebates on Monday, for citizens who filed their taxes before March 15. The price of the rebate varies based on marital status, number of children and age, but most Canadians are expected to receive a cheque for between $95-450.

Widows and widowers heat a whole home and despite this don’t get much of a rebate. Does not cost 1/2 to heat your home when your spouse dies. I find this to be a human rights issue.

Except the carbon tax is applied to everything you buy, because everything is transported. Not to mention the insidious increase to home utilities. If I got back more than I payed then there would be no point in collecting the tax in the first place.
