Smash Tennis on the SNES is my all time favourite.

I'm probably the only person that likes Smash Court Tennis. Loved the fact you could challenge line calls in that game when the ball looked close to the line. Good ball physics as well, especially on serving.

Virtua Tennis 2 has the best serve and volley gameplay I've experienced so far. It may have arcadey elements to it but it handles this part of the game beautifully and the timing system for power/angles is superb and gives the game some realism. No mention of Super Tennis or Grand Slam Tennis with motion plus advanced controls?

It saddens me that the Hot Shots Tennis games aren't in this list, :-(, some of the games on this list are great but HST is one of my favorites in the genre.

Smash Court Pro Tournament 2 really was a very fun game to play. I want to play Top Spin 4 though I haven't had the chance and now I just want to play it more.

Top Spin 4 is a really good game! Love the controls and the realism. But there are too few players, players movement is not realistic enough, too few real tournaments and the players stats are not accurate enough. Like it is nearly impossible to hit an ace with Federer etc. But I will say that with a few improvements and a bit more money, Top Spin 5 could be the ultimate tennis game imo.

Best tennis game list is not legitimate unless it has Final Match Tennis at number 1. This game came out many years ago for the TurboGrafx 16 (aka PC Engine in Europe) and to this day, FMT is still THE BEST tennis game ever made. Two other games that should be on the list are Dream Match Tennis for the PC and Jennifer Capriati Tennis for the Sega Genesis.

FMT is so much fun to play and very realistic at the same time. Same thing with the other two I listed. Sure, games like TS and VT have good graphics but the game play leaves a lot to be desired.
