you can find lots of details on all the socks I showed in this video by checking my ravelry page linked above.

yarn mentioned:
for hard-wearing socks, I like something like regia, opal or west yorkshire spinners signature 4ply.
for softer merino socks, I like coop knits socks yeah! or filcolana arwetta.
for super special alpaca socks, I like isager sock or drops nord.
the whistlebare yarn was provided for free, but this video is not sponsored.

needles mentioned:
chiaogoo circular needles are my favourite for sock knitting! I use 2.25mm 80cm mostly.

I'm wearing camisole no.5 by my favourite things knitwear, knitted with knitting for olive merino in the shade 'fennel seed'

i pretty much exclusively use the small 9 inch circulars for my socks and i use a short row heel and toe (and kitchener to close the toe), which means i can do the whole sock on just the circulars! its the fastest method for me and just wanted to share that it's possible :)

I got some 100% nylon yarn from grandma to reinforce the heels of my socks. I hold my sockyarn together with the nylon for the heel turn.

I used to knit socks - a long time ago. You've reminded me how much I enjoyed wearing them. I think I'm going to start knitteing my socks again. This sock info session has been very encouraging. Thx.

New subscriber here. My friend wants to learn how to knit socks and I was looking for a good summary for her. I have been knitting socks for over 40 years and tried lots of different methods/toes/heels etc. Your summary is very comprehensive, well done! If/when you do a video on darning/mending do mention that you can pick up the stitches, cut away the toe and knit a whole new one. I do this for heels too and find surgery is easiest performed on an after thought heel. Well done, Florence.

Even though I’ve been knitting socks for a couple of years, I really appreciated hearing your opinions on all things socks, I just wanted to add my two cents and say that I recently discovered that the Italian sewn bind off is a beautiful, bind off and stretchy for toe up socks.

I'm just getting into knitting two at a time as I struggle with second sock syndrome so badly! It's a totally different beast but I'm so excited to get a whole pair done at once!

I'd love to see how you fix your worn through socks. And I'm excited for your sock tutorial as well. That one sock you made looks so pretty!

This was fantastic, there was so much great information, I actually watched it twice to take it all in. I think with knitting there is more assumed knowledge than with other yarn crafts, so it can be quite daunting as even an intermediate knitter that I would class myself.
Please make this deep dive into sock making with as much info as you can, we sure appreciate
I'm going to buy some yarn and 2.25mm needles right away!

This is very much appreciated. I have been knitting for several years now, but I've never tried socks. I am warming up to the idea, and you have nicely answered many of the questions I had.
Now I'm going to watch the other sock videos you've posted. Thank you.

Thank you for a thorough explanation of sock knitting. I really like your teaching style. I made your step by step sweater and love it. I’m thinking of making a second one in a better ( non super wash) yarn. I’m looking forward to the rest of your series. ❤

I'm really looking forward to seeing a sock tutorial from you! I almost finished my step-by-step sweater and I've tried knitting socks in the past, but everytime I get to the heel, something goes wrong 😅😂 I do like knitting them with 4 needles, so I hope you'll include that in your tutorial too 😊

Florence, that was SO good - thanks! I am just about to embark upon my sock knitting journey as an avid garment knitter. Crisp, to the point, and full of wonderful tips and education. You are the best. 🥰❤🙏💪

For toe up I find a tubular cast of and adding an elastic thread in the tube works beautifully!

I like the Russian or elastic bind off for my toe up socks! I didn’t like the untidiness that the JSSO had and this gives me plenty of stretch (I also have bigger feet). Agree on flap and gusset as my preferred fit too!
