Russian President Vladimir Putin answered questions from the heads of leading media outlets of the BRICS countries. The meeting took place on the eve of the association's summit in Kazan.

This video covers the last twelve questions from visiting journalists as well as some concluding statements by Putin about the upcoming BRICS Summit.

Questions:

00:00 - Daniel Rittner (CNN Brazil) - Are you planning to go to the G20 in Rio in November? Secondly, in face of that, do you think that this situation that I described somehow shows the weakness of BRICS before old organisations like the ICC? And thirdly, with all due respect, do you fear to get arrested in Brazil?

05:38 - Dmitry Kiselev (Rossiya Segodnya Media Group) - Vladimir Zelensky said that the sole alternative to Ukraine joining NATO would be acquiring nuclear weapons. Simultaneously, the Bild newspaper published an interview with some anonymous Ukrainian tech-savvy, who claimed that Ukraine only needs a few weeks to build its own nuclear weapons and then make a strike at Russian troops. What does it all mean?

08:47 - Faisal Abbas (Arab News) - What is your assessment of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in finding a solution to the Ukraine Crisis? Many BRICS countries have offered a solution. You said that Riyadh was close both to Ukraine and Russia. Would Russia take part in a peace conference if it takes place in a friendly country, such as Saudi Arabia, in the near future, say, until the end of the year?

14:11 - Nadim Koteich (Sky News) - Do you see any surprises or perhaps feel any disappointment in the Russian army’s performance in this war that has been going on for a long time, longer than you expected? Could you determine when you will achieve victory in Ukraine?

18:46 - Iqbal Survé (Sekunjalo Investment Holdings) - What are your thoughts on a possible war between Israel and Iran? Can you intervene and what will you do as Russia? And what will BRICS do if this is to happen?

25:59 - Daniel Rittner (CNN Brazil) - Would you consider to sit at the table and start negotiations on the terms proposed by China and Brazil? Would you consider Mr Lula da Silva an ally, do you think he can play a role in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine?

29:17 - Sudhakar Nair (News Agency, PTI) - Some time back you suggested that, you know, that India, China and Brazil could be potential mediators to bring an end to the conflict. Do you feel that a potential mediation could exist in the near future?

30:40 - Nadim Koteich (Sky News) - How do you perceive the UAE in terms of their capability to build up relations with Iran, the USA, with your and other countries, to cooperate with international organizations such as the ICC? Is it an example of a policy you would like to pursue?

33:50 - Fan Yun (China Media Group) - Do you think that bilateral relations between Russia and China are in their best era under your and President Xi Jinping’s strategic guidance? What do you expect in the long term? Which areas of bilateral relations do you think are the most promising?

36:39 - Faisal Abbas (Arab News) - What can Russia do to help Pavel Durov (Telegram)? What can Russia do within the BRICS format to mend the relations between, let’s say, Israel and Iran? And is there a threat of a serious conflict between these countries?

40:13 - Salaheldin Magauri (MENA) - I would like to talk about Russia-Egypt relations that have recently seen an upswing assisted, among other things, by your relations with Mr Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. A large number of development projects have been launched by Russia and Egypt recently. I would like to hear your opinion of the prospects for these projects and future relations between the two countries.

42:59 - Dmitry Kiselev (Rossiya Segodnya Media Group) - The sentiment in the West regarding Ukraine has changed. Earlier there were talks about Ukraine’s inevitable victory and settling everything on the battlefield, but now there are active speculations about ceding territories in exchange for the remaining part of Ukraine joining NATO. How do you like this idea?

We are living history. These times will be spoken about for centuries to come. Books will be written. Children will be taught by the older people about these current events.

I can only thank you again, Professor.

When I listen to/watch most videos on YT, I often read comments at the same time. I have even used two devices, listening to one, reading captions at another, confident that what I gain overall by splitting my attention outweighs what I must miss. Sometimes, I do pause to replay one or another.

BUT there is no way I would do anything like any of the above during this! The visuals, the audio, and the subtitles have my ears and eyes, undivided attention.

Most significant statement comes at (43:00) where Pres Putin corrects his questioner's perspective concerning The West becoming amenable to territory being "ceded." Pres Putin replies, "I do not understand when you talk about ceding territories, because those territories which our soldiers are fighting for on the battlefield, these are our territories. These are the Lugansk People's Republic, The Donetsk People's Republic, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. This is the first thing." Notice Pres Putin fails to bother mentioning Crimea, this is because it is absolutely Russian territory in the mind of Russians and the topic is not up for discussion, and of course the aforementioned regions constitute the land bridge that provides security for Crimea.

This position on territory is overarching for any prospect of peace, because it indicates quite clearly that we will likely live to see a Civil War in Ukraine. This is because the "bad guys" in Ukraine, the militarized ultra-nationalists Russia sees as neonazi, will surely move to overthrow any Kiev regime that attempts a peace recognizing Russia's claim on those aforementioned regions, and there is no peace Russia will agree to otherwise. So talk of peace while US-armed ultra-nationalists exist in Ukraine is nonsense, and this has to be taken in light of the fact that the US CIA certainly knows this too. It's quite the dilemma for Zelensky, the US, Ukrainians sick of war, and Russia. Suppressing Ukrainian ultra-nationalists will be the key to any piece, and the American people haven't even been told they exist. Expect the US to present them as "freedom fighters."

This position was recently stated in a Spectator interview with Russia expert Owen Matthews, "Should Kiev trade land for peace, Ukraine will become ungovernable."

What strikes me, is that people here really put an effort into listening when someone is speaking. A very enriching experience. In the West it has become the norm that people talk on top of each other. Voices are harsh. People seem to think that whoever is the loudest and talks the most, is the most intelligent and the most right. It actually makes it easy to just turn them off 🤣. Thank you Michael. Coming onto your site is a rare experience.

Thanks very much! I wonder at the facilitator's tendency to editorialize needlessly and somewhat inaccurately at times. Also what is Peskov doing there? He didnt say a word and as far as i could see had no role at the table - he could have sat at home or in one of the surrounding chairs.
