1) Indexing - Go through all the resources and just develop a basic understanding
2) Retaining - Go deeper and try to retain as much as possible, use spaced revision to revise and get a good hold
3) Referencing - Refer to the curated sources, since you would have already gone through it a lot of times you would pick up really fast

I think the idea of "indexing" the information first NEEDS to be utilized more in school/universities!
It wasn't until after I graduated that I realized an initial overview of the material can really help you make sense of what you're learning and piece it together in the context of the big picture.
