i have a pile of computers now , several are old oems i repurposed and upgraded like the silver and black mid 2000s emachines etc, im a big fan of the silver dell inspirons they are super cheap and due to their aesthetics you can go either retro or semi modern with them . i also have a mixture of pcs ive built, i totally understand why you badge your computers, your not alone there lol

I recently bought one of those wavy-door DVD drives on eBay because the wavy door looked neat. That is probably one of the worst criteria for buying a drive on eBay... it, of course did not work. And while I tried to fix the problem (door won't open), copious amounts of lubrication was not the answer. Maybe someday I'll fix it.

Maybe I went old and senile a long time ago, given I've put tables on the bottom of the cases for years with the hardware configuration and other important things, like an IRQ map, port map, NIC MAC and IP. This also exists in a huge document somewhere, an outdated copy of which even exists at some hidden URL on my web server so I can look at it from anywhere within range of an internet connected device.
Never was a fan of the Tualatin, though I'm happy to watch other people play with them. Was well and truly on the K7 train by then rather than an overpriced, unobtanium proto-emergency edition chip. What I do miss, though, is the dual Coppermine.
I think there were CPUs being made with multiple cores on their package, just not x86. If so, they were probably something highly specialized and RISC-based. Don't quote me on this.
Never did trust those bridge chips. Perhaps they expect AGP 8x or something. Still, that GeForce 6 should be more than fast enough for anything you'd realistically want to play on that machine. My dual Coppermine 1100 did fine on a meager Quadro 2 Pro while it was running, without incident. If more power was needed than it or the K7 with the 4600 Ti, then usually a modern computer could run it fine anyway, or the Presler got given the job.
Every Tyan board I ever went near exhibited AGP issues, though most of those were on the old NeverWorks chipsets, so dunno, maybe just a Tyan thing.

That slot loading drive... is that a 32x CD-ROM?
I have something similar made by pioneer with a mfg. date of "Jan1998" which is kind of early for such, since the G3 iMacs didn't have SL DVD-ROM until 2001.

I like your videos and they're great, but you need to make them more interesting! The thing I found most interesting in this video is that you had two case badges on the front one for each CPU. Maybe I'm weird. You're for sure on to something, something just isn't there yet hopefully you find out what it is. I mean...listen to your intro song a little bit it's kind of monotone and you could sing about so much more!

Good for quadro fx3000 and 3d studio max or quake 3 mapping

I have that same DVD drive fascia there. Is that the 6x DVD-ROM drive? I am curious, have you had any issues with it? Mine has recently stopped reading discs. I opened it up to examine it, and the lens assembly has two different laser lens on it and when it goes to access the disc, they just constantly swap back and forth and then it spins down. I don't know if the electronics have failed or if something else has gone wrong. It was the first DVD drive I bought for myself back in 1998 or 1999. I paired it with a RealMagic DVD decoder card. It was a pretty nice set up.

Yeah, there is a general feeling that system has a lot of issues, and should do better.

It's a holy swanky TYAN Server / Workstation computer, not for gaming kids ☝️
