How To Mod Your Nintendo Wii Using ModMii!

The Nintendo Wii was not one of my favorite systems during its life but it is one of my favorite systems to run homebrew on! The Wii was easily moddable through most of its life leading to an amazing homebrew scene that is still going today. If you have a Wii sitting around that hasn't been modded now is the time to do so! This video will take you through the process of modding the Nintendo Wii using the ModMii installer. I also have a segment for basic USB Loader GX setup for your backed-up Wii and GameCube titles!

Hello all, XFlak here, creator of ModMii. I skimmed the video and overall looks like a great tutorial, however during the file cleanup step it is more ideal to point modmii to the files on your sd card or usb rather than the copy to SD folder. Not only is this faster, but by cleaning up the copy to folder, erasing the sd card, and copying copy to folder contents back, you may lose customizations/configs that were made (I. E. If you adjusted usb loader gx's settings these edits would be lost and have to be set again). So best to just have modmii clean up the sd card or usb directly

Whenever I try to load Usbloader GX on the Wii, it presumably doesn't load all the way and becomes stuck on the almost wholly white screen at 30:36. The console doesn't freeze, I can still move the cursor. I've tried reformatting it a few times now and made sure its FAT32 and MBR and nothing has worked. Anything else I should try or is it possible this won't work on the USB at all and I should get a new one?

21:03 i’m getting an error that says 48 titles succeeded and 48 files failed…. did i somehow double the files? i’m using a 32gb SDHC card

Excellent guide! Aside from the lack of Game Boy Player support, the Wii is my preferred way of playing GameCube games since I can use virtual memory cards with Nintendont and because some titles have a performance boost when they're run with Nintendont too.

i know this is late but if anyone has trouble getting the envelope to show up, my main issue was leaving spaces in the mac address like in the example modmii shows instead of all together

this is a great video, by the way ive got an SD card for the WII U coming and a USB coming for the wii so i can dump my virtual console games on my pc for emulator use. im still waiting for that video to dump virtual console games from the wii to the PC

I just got a modded Wii with a 32GB SDHC card loaded with some games. I’m wondering if I can use a 512GB microSD card on my Wii to load games instead of using a hard drive. I know I’d need to format it to FAT32, but will the apps work properly? I’ve been getting a lot of mixed answers, so if anyone knows, please let me know!
