Animal Watch has now met the working line & the showline Dogo Argentino in person. This breed is banned in the UK, considered to be high risk for humans and pets. But is this true and does the showline or the working line have an edge on the other one, perhaps calmer, better with kids? Watch to find out...........

Thankyou to the boys who met us today whose identity we have kept hidden for the protection of the dogs involved.

In Uruguay is a very common breed (the work line) and it is in fact an explosive and aggressive dog, and when involved in a fight it is almost imposible to control it. A dog only for very responsible owners.
To illustrate what I mean: a German shepherd or a Doberman can be aggressive but they always maintain a line of communication with the owner, they listen for orders or commands, while the dogo, once went into hunter mode (with another animal) doesn't listen anymore. Physical intervention is necessary to break up a fight or attack

Show line should not even be classed as a dogo. Dr Martinez would be ashamed

I'm so glad you did this for the dogo's. I'm in the uk, and I'm still thinking about getting one.

We have the honor of having both the hunter and show style of the breed. Regardless they are the best dog in the world. I have had several breeds from German Shepherds to Rhodesian Ridge Back and Staffordshire Terriors there is nothing better than a Dogo.

Wow it amazes me how none of these comments are from breeders and trainers you should know this dog is lovable and trainable and will protect his family with this life

Another excellent video from animal watch, thanks ! I have looked in the archives of your channel and can not find a review of the American staffordshire terrier ( The amstaff ) anywhere . Maybe in the future you can make a video about this great breed?

My doggo was my favorite dog I've ever owned. He was beautiful, protective, loyal and gentle. He was taken from us way too soon by our pitty. My heart still misses Ozzie boy so much. I will own another one because they are truly an amazing dog but need strong leadership from their owner. Not everyone should own one of these beauties.

I had one he was the most loyal dog to the entire family but if he had to protect he would also training was extremely easy almost as if he was already trained from day one

I would argue that the Italian guy claiming his dogs were show line is completely wrong! The overly large Dogo's would be better described as petline.. Breeders filling the wants of buyers who want a huge scary looking dog! I have seen Dogo's in dog shows and the looked more like the dogo's in the working line video, not the overweight dog in the Italian video.. When breed standard tops out at 110 pounds, a 130-150lb dog with a head the size of an English Mastiff is not show line! I would also question, do a couple of guys in the UK actually have working Dogo's? What work are they doing in the UK, where all the dangerous wild animals have been killed off? There are no wild hogs, puma, coyote, wolves, bears etc.. Do they scare off the bee's? In the UK, a Staffy or Jack Russell is as big a dog that is needed to protect from wildlife, and they won't cost a fortune to feed!

Love this program the unbiased facts on all dogs. I have a Jack Russell a female and she hates other dogs especially other females. So it's not just big dogs that are aggressive to other dogs. Its all in being a responsible dog owner, and managing the animal that you have. Love exercise mental stimulation you will have a great pet.

I have a 110 lb dogo and pit bull terrier mix - adopted- initially told Great Dane mix. Did a dog dna test. I’m surprised by the negative views on these dogs. Mine is so sweet, but lazy couch dog type. He might do a jog 5-10 minutes, or walk most days, and he sleeps rest of the day. We’ve never had a break in at our house. Burglars know to stay away I guess. They are strong dogs, so I use a special restraint leash. Also super smart. I can teach him a new trick in under a minute. The only problem is an occasional fight over toys with my other dogs. He’s so good with my kids. I have no idea how a dogo ended up at the humane society but I’m happy we got him.

The showline doesn't even look like a dogo, looks more like a white mastiff with its square head and dangling lips. Speed, stamina and fearlessness is the essence of the breed. Around a 100lbs, light footed with tight lips. Love his family but not endearing towards strangers.
